Could we get in on this deal? Shareef to Minnesota

Here are some possibilities. Any Suggestions?

    Weatherspoon to Portland
    Szczerbiak to Portland

    Shareef to Minnesota

Ervin Johnson or Michael Olowokandi to Houston

We get a back-up center and still have the TE, Mid-level, and veterans money.

Johnson has one year left and Olowokandi has two.

I'd rather not help out the Wolves. Adding SAR could make them very tough to beat in the playoffs.

Minny would have to send Wally & either Kandi or Johnson to match SAR's salary. They dont need us to make a deal. Why would Portland want to take on Spoon over better players such as Johnson and Kandi?

lol. Kandi's not better than spoon. Spoon doesn't HURT you when he's out there.

Since Shareef wants to start on another team, the Blazer already have a great PF and need a back. Would a Mo plus change for Shareef be a reasonable trade on both fronts?

Kandi sucks, but he'll be a legit backup and there's no SHAQ to worry about.

Why on earth would Minnesota get rid of Wally?
he can actually shoot the ball.

For Shareef?? who's not a good shooter and makes 5 million more.

There was a long post on this. Shareef will never be a Rocket.

Who's dumb enough to take Weatherspoon?

Look at Isiah, he can't get rid of Moochie no matter how hard he tries.

Even if we can get rid of your arch-nemesis Weatherspoon? :)

Looks good to me. They wouldn't give up Kandi. Ervin Johnson would be just fine however.

First, didn't an article recently say that Chicago accepted Mooch in the Crawford deal?

Second, Portland doesn't need Shareef bc of Randolph and he's making the max. I think they WOULD accept Spoon bc they'd be getting Wally too, who I'm pretty sure makes less than Shareef. He's an expensive but maybe useful throw-in.

The only way I see us playing in this is if we take on Portland's trash, like Reuben Patterson. I'd love to move Mo Taylor to Portland with Pike or whateveri for Wally, then pay them by taking Patterson and maybe Woods or some other malcontent with the TE. However, I'd think Portland needs more than that.

    On the other hand,

They really need to get rid of those bad eggs, Patterson and Woods.

They have way too high a payroll, and Wally has a bad contract for a long time.

They are bringing D. Miles back, and they have D. Anderson, which would leave Wally a backup shooting specialist.

They will need need a decent backup 4 behind Randolph.

So, Taylor could work. It's Just not likely.

There's nothing posted about Chicago accepting the trade. Its not official. The reason for this trade for Crawford taking so long is that Chicago doesn't want Moochie. Isiah was INSISTING on trading Moochie.

I dont think Minessota is getting rid of Wally.
The main reason why the Wolves lost to the Lakers is Cassell and Hudson were hurt.

Good shooters are a premium nowadays.

Isn't Steve Paterson the president of the Blazers? This is a guy who got awesome trades for Otis Thorpe and Kenny Smith. I dont think he's dumb enough to pull a trade for our trash.

    Don't listen to tinman...

He has something personal against SAR which he refuses to come clean about ;)

I guarantee SAR will not be a Rocket. Jason Kidd has a better chance of being a Rocket than SAR.

Last I saw they were ready to give up Wally but not johnson or the kandiman. I know its hard to believe they wouldn't be ready to get rid of olawakandi, but it was cited that they would lose too much depth at center. They can't trade straight up because SAR makes more than Wally. I'll look for the link from where I saw that.

Here was the link, but alas it is a poor source of information(Chad Ford).
Larry (Hastings, Ne): Chad, Any truth to the rumors of Abdur-Rahim to the Wolves for Szerbiak? Will anyone else be involved?

Chad Ford: They've talked. The problem is that a Shareef for Wally trade doesn't work straight up. The Wolves would have to include another player either Ervin Johnson or Michael Olowokandi to make it work. I'm not sure they're willing to part with either just to move Wally and add Shareef. They'd be awfully thin up front.

Nobody WANTS him, but there are players that teams want much less than Spoon.

For example, Howard Eisley. He has 1 more year than Spoon. So a team would rather have our useless player for 2 years than that useless player for 3.

I don't like this idea for a couple of reasons...

#1. I don't want a nanny raper on this team
#2. One pot-head is enough for me
#3. Why would I want any of the malcontent Blazers that I can't stand when I have to hear enough of them here in Oregon?
