Anyone ever tried this out? I got sucked into a time-vortex on YT of magnet fishing videos and it looks like it might be a little fun. Can find cool stuff...and at the minimum, help clean up some of our waterways.
Throwing a heavy duty magnet into water can injure fish and other people swimming in the water. Don't recommend this illegal activity.
Lost of pistolees with scratched out serial numbers down there. Although, you may be able to bring up the submersible that everyone is looking for and be crowned a hero.
I've come to the conclusion that the majority of those videos are fake, where they plant the stuff a few of minutes before they turn the cameras on. There simply aren't that many handguns and boxes of explosives and mortar shells just sitting out there to be found. My impression from the majority of videos I've seen is that the cops feel the same way, too.
Also, even for legitimate finds, it's a little like any of those "picker" shows, where they only show you the 5 minutes when they make their best find. They don't show you the 6 hours they were pulling old bottle tops out of the river. I guarantee you it is boring as hell 99% of the time.
I got lost for over an hour a few years ago on some dude doing this his videos. It always ended up being a bunch of crap that he found. You're not tricking me into watching this mess again!
Paddle around, a little dragline with a magnet on the back of the canoe, a little fishing pole here and there. It's not a whole lot of work.
I like watching the guy on tok that uses the metal detector at the beaches. I just FF to the last 4 seconds
I think the reason the cops hate these guys is because it's a wasteful nuisance masquerading as a public service. The stuff they find down there rarely results in a positive outcome for the public and is almost always better off if it were left down there. Then you have the clout chasers who stage it, and that's even worse.
For real? I have been fishing like twice in my life and that was just the old cane pole with the red and white bobber and a worm. I was doing it all wrong
