Ok, maybe it's living in Toronto that gets me thinking this way, but is there any idication about Stevie's future? I know he's signed up for a couple more seasons, but is there any word about whether he intends to sign an extension before then, or tset the market?

On a similar note, though entirely from an academic standpoint, what individual current NBA player, factoring in age, talent, ect., do you think would be fair trade value, even up, for Steve Francis? Try and remain as objective as possible...

If I were to guess...hmm...I'd probably say Lamar Odom...it's a hard one to figure...

Straight up? Hmmm, given the upside and tender young age, and an already potent offensive game, I'd say Garnett. Yeah, yeah, Garnett. McGrady...yeah, that's a good trade.

Stevie is nicknamed franchise for a reason. Odom is good but not considered a franchise player. There are only a few players in the league that I would trade francis for and that would be KG, Shaq, Duncan, Vince, Tracy McGrady, and maybe Iverson or Kobe. Francis will never be traded. If he leaves the rockets, it would be for FA.

Well I remember at the start of last season, Francis was saying that he wanted to be a Rocket for life, and how he just had bought a puppy, and that he wanted the dog, the size of his house, and himself to all grow here in Houston along with his career. He went on to say a bunch of stuff about he admired Hakeem and wanted to play all his career in Houston like Hakeem. I wonder if that last part will be true.

Actually, most people consider Odom to be the most talented player in the 1999 draft. He's younger than Francis or Brand, and I think he'll eventually be better than either.

he might end up being something, but as for right now, I would never trade franchise for odom.

kevin garnett did come to mind. honestly, there aren't any point guards I'd trade him for, so it would have to be a big man for the impact on the team to be the same. meaning I wouldn't trade a franchise point guard for a swing man, no matter how good the swing man. I might trade him for duncan.

but even just thinking academically, I wouldn't want to trade franchise. I hope you're reading, stevie. we love you.

The thing with a player like Francis, is that more times than not, you're not going to get fair trade value, because generally teams won't trade a big man of equal talent for a smaller one.

Therefore, you're not going to get a bigger player for him, and most likely, you'd get a player of close to similar talent who won't make your team better.

In other words, there's no point in trading him, not that we'd want to, because you'd gain nothing by trading him.

As far as Odom goes, yes, I consider him the most talented player from that draft, but I don't think he has what it takes to carry a team in the playoffs.

If Stevie had to go, I'd trade him for Marbury. They are the identical age within a day, and Marbury has more water under the bridge, and thus has some things to prove.

I'd rather have Patrick Ewing's club pass for "free oral sex", but I think that is way too much to ask.

I wouldn't trade Wink for anyone. Finding a PG leader is so tough. He is already a top 3 pg, and the youngest on that list. He is gonna be a superstar. Oh, wait, he already is.

    I missed it.

Where did Stevie get the nickname Wink from?

Guys, think as if you're not a Rockets fan:

Derek Fisher + Kobe for Steve + Cuttino

Lakers would be better, and the Rockets would be better too. Cause Houston needs a more marquee player, and Shaq needs more team-spirit-type players like Francis and Cuttino.

    What do you think?

Although I would not trade Francis for anything short of a McGrady, Garnett, Duncan, etc... I would say a fair trade value would be Paul Pierce, Shawn Marion, and Wallace. I think Francis has the potential to be a better leader than those players though.

I agree with Colby,I wouldn't trade Steve. He is the leader of our team (with Cat),and it's very difficult to find such a young PG team leader.Man,we have one of best backcourts of the NBA.Cat and Stevie are so good together, they have both a very bright future, but together they are better. In fact of that reason i wouldn't trade anyone of them.

I don't know about that. How much younger is odom? Remember he had a year in prep school, so he should be around the same age as brand & a year younger than sf.

Odom's 21, about 3 years younger than Francis, whose 24. Odom has tremendous upside.

Also, his favorite drink growing up as a kid was this fruit punch called Wink.
