This would be my lineup until Yordan comes back (it’s pretty clear Brown does not expect Brantley to contribute): 2B Altuve SS Pena 3B Bregman RF Tucker C Diaz LF McCormick DH Abreu 1B Dubon CF Meyers Once Alvarez comes back, slot him 3rd at DH between Pena and Bregman, and Dubon/Abreu split time at 1B. Julks would only be used for days off for OF/DH and pinch running. Maldy would catch Framber and one other pitcher each turn thru the rotation. Kessinger and Salazar would not play except for blowouts.
I admit I wanted to send him down and now I don't. But I guarantee you I will want to again multiple times before the season ends. He's still the worst outfielder on this roster, who happens to be on a hot streak while Meyers is on a cold streak. His OPS for June is .756 ( before today) which is just a touch below 110 OPS+. Its good but we are not talking about an MVP candidate. Nobody needs to be talking about him like he's Barry Bonds.
I'm glad for Julks as a fellow Coog but I would like Justin Dirden to get a shot as well. I thought his spring was better and he deserved. Anyone know between Julks and Dirden who the better LF is?
Me too, because the extent to which folk on here seemed to take him down just appeared way out of proportion when plenty of others weren’t really doing it on the field. I’ve no idea how he’ll continue to go but he has had enough about him to not necessarily be the lost cause he seemed treated as, by some, from quite early on. Sorry Julksy, I might just have written your season off for you
I think it’s been stated multiple times here but the issue wasn’t Julks playing per se but him starting so many games at the cost of Diaz getting playing time. Now that Diaz is playing consistently we are seeing what he’s capable of. Brown had to have said something to Dusty
I’ll admit I thought taking away playing time from McCormick was ridiculous. If he can keep getting walks then he is a plus offensively. If he reverts to swinging at everything he needs to go the bench.
Based off Dusty's comments...he's going to continue to play Montero, even when he gets in trouble. He nearly blew the game if it weren't for Julks diving catch. Brace yourselves...I expect many more blown leads incoming.
