Bertrans is the bigger contract, but the deal may involve both. On our side, I’m fine with taking this salary, not very high on this years’ FA crop for our stage of development. Plus both Bullock and Bertans can shoot, so there’s that. Next year Bertans is only $5M guaranteed. I wonder who is Cuban targeting with cap space? FVV to replace Brunson? Draymond? Middleton? Porzingas D)?
idk what to make of it... but imo any consolidation of assets is a good thing... if we can move some lesser level talent to better our pick - thats a good thing i reckon... hopefully we got plans for that #10 pick - aside from using it...
From how I perceive them when they are forced to handle the ball and execute in different setups and situations. Green gets similar assist totals, but imo if you look at how they set up or find teammates (transition, halfcourt, pick&roll, seeing teammates cutting or open in the corner), Franz can create better and more consistently.
The right play is to make this sort of deal and move up. Having #4 and 10 could vastly fast forward this rebuild. We have several contracts that Dallas might find appealing and we can easily shoulder one of theirs.
LOL, content must be tough to come by today with the Astros slumping and the NFL and NBA in the offseason.
I don't see how Franz creates better. Green is known for easily beating set perimeter defenses which collapses defenses and creates open teammates.
I don't think he can do that? Would have to renounce the rights to Kyrie before signing Brooks. Effectively the Mavs are an over the cap team with no cap space to sign anyone. If they bring back just Kyrie and Powell, and add pick 10, they would be closer than 10mill to the 2nd apron line. Which would mean they couldn't spend their MLE to improve. Essentially they tanked so they didn't lose the 10 pick as an asset (top 10 protection). But using it to dump salary and bring back some viable rotation players may not be the worst move. Especially if they are flipping back to 20 to get someone they like (or can use that to get another vet). They badly need to improve their roster or start facing an angry Doncic
It’s just me but I’d much prefer trading say 20 + Tate for a John Collins. For me the draft range between 8 - 15 is kind of meh.
