... prosecutors work out plea deals with defendants all the time. Especially when the preponderance of evidence against the accused could potentially result in harsher penalties in a trial conviction. That's at state and local levels, too...but is often abused in more local jurisdictions for too many reasons to list...here or anywhere else. It's why the FEDs have such a ridiculously high conviction rate. They don't bring charges without solid evidence. If the president did indeed tell his son to plead out the federal charge, he gave him good advice. And for once, it seems, the knucklehead took the old man's advice. At Uncle Joe's age, I'd be willing to bet a chocolate cake that he probably doesn't give a damn how bad this all "looks"...especially to people looking for any kind of reason to make people think he's just as bad (if not worse) than their shining orange knight, the Donald. Uncle Joe could have pardoned his son at any time. "Slow-walking" this all, notwithstanding. And he didn't. He still could. Wouldn't be surprised to read in his memoirs someday that he considered it. It's his son. People have done a lot worse when it comes to defending their children. A "bad look"? Yeah. No doubt. Kind of offers though, as far as "looks" go, a pretty good one into Uncle Joe's character. Especially considering the tug family ties can have on the heartstrings. Anybody looking for some dirt on Uncle Joe (and as always with people, we'll find exactly whatever it is we're looking for, even if it isn't there), maybe ought to cast their all-knowing gaze someplace else. I think. If we're talking about "bad looks" and everything...
I wouldn’t be surprised if Joe Biden told Hunter to plead guilty and work out a deal. That’s the most rational thing to do with a case like this. Many people make plea deals with prosecutors. That Hunter Biden did it doesn’t seem exceptional.
Looks like we had the same thought. I agree though if Joe Biden pardons his son that would look bad and I don’t think he will.
Or maybe he just acted like a father instead of his lawyer. When you hear tapes of Hunter talking to Joe, it comes off much more like a carrying dad would talk to his son. Yes of course any dad will always give advice but that’s just not how they talk to each other when their conversations have been made public.
... that's because, at this juncture, that was the smartest thing Hunter Biden could have done. ... It's not like there's some long history of Hunter Biden doing something smart or anything...
No, that's not what Deja was charged with. Deja was charged for making a false statement on the application, which is the same charge as Hunter. The most relevant point and difference is that in Deja's case, a teacher was shot with that gun, and that's why Deja was charged. ps. I ignored the fact that we actually don't know how his gun ended up in the trash, as that's not relevant to the current discussion.
After some thought, if I had the ability I'd let Hunter and Donald walk (on the fed charges) if we could have only criminal prosecuted Purdue Pharma...out of all this drama they have come away scot-free. The heads of that company should have been convicted and put in prison for life and all money earned forfeited. Yea, there is definitely a two tier justice system when a president and president's son can be charged before a corporation that killed millions without batting an eye...
Corporations are people, my friend. ...uh... ...except where legal infractions occur...and then it's every man/woman/child/he/she/they/them for themselves. ...(this is harder to do when you're trying to be inclusive)...
Gun violation is serious. Thousands of people have gone to prison over mistakes in paper work, terrible ATF record keeping and this dude will walk over insanity lying on a federal gun declaration. insanity.
Oh yeah ? Who exactly was thrown in prison for lying on a application with no prior criminal history? "Insanity" is how brainwashed you are
So will @Os Trigonum ever respond about last weeks bombshell allegation about a dead witness….. Or am I correct in believing it was just made up and the innuendos are more important than the facts.
North Liberty Woman Sentenced to 12 Months in Prison Related to False Statements During the Purchase of Firearms https://www.atf.gov/news/pr/north-l...ison-related-false-statements-during-purchase
Sounds like she should have stopped lying and misleading law enforcement when she was caught…. Probably doesn’t help that several of the guns she purchased were found to be in the possession of two felons. @Os Trigonum
Or have committed a lesser offense like Hunter…. And maybe cooperated instead of lying when caught. What about the whistleblower? They alive… dead….. give me some rope here….
