Here are the names for the hurricanes this year. Based on the names alone, which sounds the most terrifying?

    2023 storm names:

    Arlene
    Bret
    Cindy
    Don
    Emily
    Franklin
    Gert
    Harold
    Idalia
    Jose
    Katia
    Lee
    Margot
    Nigel
    Ophelia
    Philippe
    Rina
    Sean
    Tammy
    Vince
    Whitney

Gert and Idalia get my vote.

I know, it just seems early to start thinking about hurricanes.

Its pretty average TBH. These storms will likely turn north long before they hit shore. Its the late August and September storms that are a concern.

Here in FL, its obvious when hurricane season is in full swing. We start getting our daily thunderstorms. Last year the thunderstorms didn't start until early July. This year it was late may. Winter and Spring were extremely dry this year. I suspect the bulk of the hurricanes to wrap up sometime mid September with a couple stragglers in October leading to an earlier winter.

    Bump.....

Tropical weather potential next week. Very small chance, but fingers crossed it brings us much needed rain. That hot water is scary though....

We need some hurricanes to defeat the heat dome

I remember during that horrible 2011 summer heat/drought a tropical storm was making landfall south of Corpus and it just evaporated as it made landfall in drought-stricken Texas.

I think the opposite will happen, unfortunately.
