There’s Ruhfell’s future first (even though it’ll probably in the same range(20ish) next year; Nuggets also have the 37th & 40th second-round picks)
My relatively final offer for Henderson would look like #4/#20/Porter/Martin. 2 young players with a level of ideal control that would slot into the top 8 for Charlotte.
In general, I agree. But I’m expecting at least two, maybe three free agent signings. That, along with whoever we get at #4 is going to mean possibly four new players. That’s going to push a lot of dead weight off the roster and make it harder to get guys playing time. Denver is apparently trying to move into the first round. We could give up #20 in exchange for their 2024 pick from OKC. A future first will be more valuable in trades than whoever we get at #20.
My hope is Miller falls to us at #4. (Less than a 50% chance) Then trade #20 (if needed) Eason (Miller is better at the same role), Martin (don’t want to pay) & Christopher (no room) to Dallas for #10 pick. We then draft Wallace if there or Hood-Schifino and never look back.
from an asset management standpoint I get the appeal of trading pick 20 into a future draft. however a late first this year is not equal to a late first in 2024. next year's draft is objectively weaker. maybe if we can find a taker for tate/20, clear additional cap space, move the pick further into the future, then I'm much more interested.
This. People seem to think we have some huge logjam of talent. We have the opposite of that. We have too many guys that haven't even proven they're nba players. Guys like that aren't heavily coveted by other teams, they're salary filler for trades. Some of these guys just won't make it and be waived. That's not super rare for some of these end of the 1st rd picks. We have to bring in some free agents just to field a roster competitive enough to break the 30 win mark. I would dump some of these guys that don't make the cut and just keep drafting.
My new and final pick for the Rockets at 20 is Noah Clowney if he's available. Previously, I had Kris Murray there.
Trading up to 10 would be amazing. Whether including KJ or Tate, whoever. Anyone beyond their core of JG, Alp, Bari and Tari. Get it done Stone.
Too bad we couldn’t get Smart from Boston. I feel like Tate would have been an enticing replacement for him. I don’t know how I feel about the Porzingis fit. They’re going to lose defensive intensity. It’s like GSW losing Draymond.
Ck out KP's defensive rankings across the board last year and you might think different. They're losing a chunk no doubt, but if healthy, they're gaining a load.
Yah but different position. Maybe they improve inside but they lose that gritty perimeter defender which I think is more important. We’ll see though.
