Gotta let the Scoot thing go. There is zero realistic path for the Rockets to get him. Other teams have better assets and there's no chance he falls to 4.
Plus there are probably 3-4 teams willing to offer up a ransom to the Blazers if Charlotte is dumb enough to take Miller over Scoot.
Please let this be true! I really believe Whitmore is our likely best option at 4. Is he a complete prospect? No. But he checks a lot of boxes and has very little bust potential. The Rockets can't afford to waste this pick. Whitmore won't be a bust.
I really don't believe they will take him. As far as I know, they haven't even had him in for a visit.
That's really not true at all. The Rockets have the best offer anyone could have. 4th pick 20th pick Nets assets which could be turned into a player or kept as assets to trade various players that could be traded or flipped for a pick (Garuba,TyTy,KPJ,Martin,Christopher,Tate) If you want vets with the team and actually play them some of these guys should be traded anyways Getting a 3rd team involved creates the opportunity for the player that Portland wants. Or, with Charlotte you simply make it worth going down 2 spots. Now is it worth doing what you would have to do to make that happen I don't know. Perhaps drafting Cam,Amen,Walker etc is worth it then targeting a guard next offseason and signing someone like FVV now. There are a million ways they could go. Another option I brought up is trading down lower in this draft and gaining another pick next draft. Targeting someone in this draft like Dick or Hendricks that is safer. Trading pick 20 this year and maybe a player for a bad contract for a season or two for a pick next year. Then go into the draft with 3 picks next year and you could either get as high in the draft as you can or trade all 3 for a really good player while keeping your core players intact. Watch the Rockets just stay in the 4th spot and sign a few FA role players and make absolutely zero trades lol.
I thought I read that the rockets did have him in for a workout. They definitely interviewed him at the combine. I keep thinking, “who does Ime want”? Cam doesn’t have all the traits I think Ime wants but he has some. Seems like Ime likes strong guys who can defend and shoot, and can get their own bucket if needed. I can see some of those traits in Cam. I’m sure he wants the bball IQ and court vision too, but that’s where coaching and playing experience comes in. If this guy’s ceiling is a bigger, stronger Anthony Edwards that’s tough to pass on.
He has had a workout with the Rockets at the University of Houston over a week ago. The sheer fact that Houston is still trying to bring in Henderson for a workout clearly shows that they aren't satisfied with Amen Thompson.
I hope the rockets take Whitmore and trade up to get Kobe Bufkin. Whitmore for the upside, Bufkin as a connector.
Whitmore is 6’6…where is he going to play? He does not play defense! He is not a playmaker! He does not pass the ball. He is a average shooter! He going to get his shot blocked every time he drives to the basket….he only have Bully Ball offense.
Are you trying to ruin my day! Amen, brother! -Amen, would be our best defender. He would be our point guard for the future. Elite 1st step, PLAYMAKER, top defender. …I seen Whitmore play in Villanova and he was average….he was not the best player on that sorry Villanova team….no vision, no feel for the game and no playmaker…..stop this madness
Kill this thread! We need to hope and pray for either Scoot or Amen! Or I would trade the pick to Brooklyn for Bridges and a pick
