Beal is one of the most overrated players of all time.

I don't care about Fertits money. I would take Beal if all we had to do is absorb his contract, he is a plus player. What I would not want to do is give up real assets for him.

The issue is always about what the hell a contender can actually offer without gutting their team and leaving it a non contender.
Portland is in a unique position to offer Beal a star running mate coming off his peak season.

If i'm Washington, i do a feel good semi-rebuild around the twins with Amen at 3 and Ausur with their own 8th pick. Kristaps is still young. Kuzma. Kisperts nice specialist to spread the floor. If the twins explode with their already decent and still young talent, they could have a quick turnaround.

I’m not worried about the owners bank account. I’m worried about the % of the cap his contract takes up.

It's less about the moron owner's money (not that he'd spend it) and more about the salary cap as the youngin's grow and opportunities appear.

I don't want to commit 37% of the team's cap to Bradley Beal. That man's contract goes through 2027! How come Washington didn't learn from their mistakes with John Wall? Heck I don't even want to do it for 2023-2024 James Harden. Someone taking 37% of the cap on a 15 man roster better be 37% of the reason you contend for rings. Too many max contracts being handed out in the NBA.

Now they can trade Beal for Wall + Westbrook + Paul plus some filler.

Beal would probably only want to go to a playoff team. The only teams I can think that would be willing to give up multiple picks would be the Nets and Knicks. Both have salaries they can throw in without giving up their main guys and can trade 2 picks.

    So basically...you're saying he's worth nothing ?

So glad he has a trade clause. That will save Stone from doing something stupid.

Reminds me of an older Oladipo, I would probably extend him on top of his 55 mill per year contract.

Makes no sense to me for those teams to trade for Beal. He is constantly injured. Paying him top dollar as well when he won't even be your best player is another weird move. I guess though.
