Man he's made a coin or two, not like he wouldn't have plenty of offers being a coach or tv personality too. Seems like that's basically assured, if he came back here for money instead of really taking his last shot at glory that would be some bad karma.

You're kidding about the secret agreement right? I mean......**** like that could easily happen and not be in writing.

Stupid? Well it may be out there but it is not stupid, maybe you just don't understand nuance...and strategy well.

I think we all love CP3 for what he gave when he was here and we all recognize he's a natural floor leader, and a spectacular one at that. But the idea that he is interested in coming here to basically be an on the court coach to help develop our children is kind of crazy. The only way he would consider that is if basically nobody else wants him - and that seems highly unlikely to me. I think he'll go to some "championship contender". I'm sure the Lakers, Clippers and even Denver would love to add CP3 to their roster.

Or that we OVERPAY him for 1 year and he still gets to go where he wants only makes **** LOADS more money.

You don't think he's made enough? He's earned hundreds of millions of dollars on multiple max contracts at this point. I suspect all he cares about is winning that ring.

I think that players are motivated by many things, mostly money - and rightfully so, and I believe he would consider it as long as there was that hidden OUT, all we would be doing is getting above the new floor in the CBA and pushing our cap room out to a year with better Free Agents.

Same with Simmons it is a 2 year cap room punt to where you have a more clear vision of the players on your roster with IMe to make a more informed decision.

I know this is a more nuanced discussion but the Org should consider everything, now if we can get Zion for 4 and future picks and maybe a player, then hell yes, saddle up.

Listen, you can get me to buy that if we were willing to do something stupid like give him a 3 year deal, he wouldn't be able to turn the money down. But you can't convince me that a 1 year deal could get it done. Especially for less than the max.

The NBA has traditionally frowned on such things and the penalty is usually forfeited draft picks, but nothing about the type of deal you describe is "easy" (weird 30 m deal with guaranteed mid season buyout, Paul forfeiting half a season to be part time player coach then joining a new team) - it's just not going to happen.

If you want some veteran mentor, sign Derek Rose or something or sign some recently retired player as an assistant

Cp3 will not come back to Houston. We traded him to OKC. I think he would rather play in China than play for a Fertitta owned franchise ever again.

The question is, would he be open to come back? My guess is no. But if he would I’m all for it.

Why pay Paul $30 mil when we have Christopher? Christopher is the Guard God.

I might be in the minority but I don't want any "veteran mentor" to come in for one or even two years to hold these kids' hands.
I want no part of that, at least at the point guard position, that will just elongate the process by taking the ball out of their hands in those critical situations, we saw it last year with EG getting the ball in critical possessions instead of the kids.

There's no better teacher than experience. Hard to get that when someone else is setting the table for you.

If they are going to sign a point guard, I'd prefer it to be a younger guy that can stick around 4 years and grow with the team. Not some over the hill gang rides again just to babysit.

Mature enough to lead the kids, young enough to grow with them.

It is not like he is piss poor and needed every cent of the millions.

CP3: "I need those 30 million and an apology from Tilman himself."

Man if you think players don't try to make every nickel they can you are wrong.

weve already had Augustine and Schroeder here (and wall doing what stone told him )

I agree . At this point we need guys that can play . I want a guy or two that we can BENCH green or kpj for if they are ****ing around . Or someone legitimately better so those kids have to compete for playing time .

we need to stop setting up everything around holding the hands of green and kpj .

My dream get is Desmond bane .

Trae / Murray is also ok . I do like Murray , but I wonder if we are ready for him / I’m not sure he’s an impact winning player despite putting up good stats

Money talks. If we offer him the most money in the market, he’ll come. I’d offer 2 years 55 million
