Wow, a lot of jealousy in this post. I love the city of Denver and the way the Nuggets play basketball. Congrats to the Nuggets, Jokic, Murray and the rest of the Nuggets org. BTW, Brown is very underrated.
Folks saying u can't or never winning it with said archetype was setting themselves to b proven wrong eventually. I think it's unlikely for a weak defensive center to winning it all is a more fair take. And yes just bc one center in jokic does it doesn't mean that sengun is bound/guarantee to do it also. Way too many factors involved.
The only player that didn't want to wear his Nuggets championship jersey. Clearly wants to get traded to Houston.
The point was you can win a championship with multiple ways but nothing is easy. How do you think the Rockets wanted to build around Harden and have mediocre to above average shooting...... Yes. Sengün is no Jokic, Sengün is more Hakeem than Joker, but he is no near Hakeem level. They say Baby Joker because Joker is a hot topic now. They would have called him Baby Arvydas, Baby Vlade, Baby Yoda.....
If that defensively weak center is also weak at other departments sure but that makes him a bad player and you can't win with bad players. It's not entirely about his defensive shortcomings it's about his general inability to make impact when he is on. No they don't exactly have to be as good as Jokic to win championship. A better Sabonis will replicate this in the future. Game is evolving.
Jokic is pretty good at Defense, he is not blocking shots but he is defensively rebounding well, he does his work bodying up.....and so on. Defensive positioning is okay. He is not the fastest, he is not jumping the highest, we knew that coming in already.
What a dominant run by the Nuggets. Really happy for my adopted second team after moving to CO. Hope our Rockets are up next in a few years! Denver can have a dynasty until we're ready.
Yeah he's 5-6/10 defensively. He was 3/10 few years ago. Doesn't bite on pump fakes, stands straight and more importantly since he's gargantuan they can't outmuscle him to get close to the rim for easy layups. He's pretty good at 1 on 1 situations.
