If we give them all their picks back we might get Bridges. Just taking on Simmons contract does not shore up our Nets’ pick, it destroys it by providing them the cap relief to sign an all-star. I would give them all the picks and take back Simmons for Bridges and a couple of the Sun’s picks down the road. A more likely scenario is that we use the Nets’ picks as a facilitator in a 3 way trade with us getting a really good vet back.
Pretty good scenario. I don’t want FVV on a long-term deal, but would take him on that tyep of deal. I doubt he goes for it though. I’m also unsure if the deal for McDaniels would be good enough for Minnesota to bite (unless he is a rental).
I’m not necessarily asking for myself. I’m asking for everyone so that we can all compare each player’s efficiency the same way. Why not share this knowledge?
I imagine Atlanta knows they are going to lose him without some other roster changes, or a serious team improvement next year. They can only extend him at $25m a year. No way he accepts that and will become a FA next summer. I suggested a Murray trade a few days ago. Knowing these new developments, I’d suggest a different trade: #20 + 2024 BKN pick + KPJ + KJM (or Tate) for DeJounte Murray + John Collins The Hawks get replacement players for both positions on team friendly deals that give them some breathing room with the cap. It cost them a FRP to try Murray out for a year (and the fact we are taking on Collins). Collins is a reclamation project that I think could be successful. Murray and KPJ’s salaries are the same, so we still have $40m to attract free agents with (which we need a move like this to do). We will also be in a better position to re-sign Murray than the Hawks are. This also allows us to completely disregard team need and take best player available in the draft. Something like this would actually make me a proponent of a Murray trade.
I like this. If we can get Murray without giving up the #4 pick, I'm all in. I also would do it without Collins. #20 + 2024 BKN pick + KPJ or KJM or Tate Draft Cam Whitmore at 4. Murray / Green / Whitmore / Smith / Sengun
Sign Harden and Lopez. Extend KMJ Trade #20 and BKN's remaining draft capital for Bridges. Draft Amen Harden / Green / Bridges / Smith / Sengun Amen / KPJ / KMJ / Eason / Lopez
I would also do it without Collins, but I’m afraid it will be a necessity. Also, with that lineup, your team still has $65m in its coffers!
I think this is a pretty realistic off-season scenario - save the trading for Bridges part You have to have a salary filler for a Bridges trade because our cap space would be completely dry signing Harden and Lopez, so KPJ, Tate + Garuba, and or JC would have to be included. I don’t think the Nets trade Bridges for #20, 2 first + 2 swaps (eliminated) value-wise either at this point. If he is what he showed for the Nets last year, not only is he an elite defender, but he's also an offensive all-star, on top of being younger, on top of being an iron man, on top of being on a very cheap 3/70 deal Maybe if the Nets really liked KPJ they'd S&T Cam for him + a future first or swap cancelation, which is interesting, but I also have a hard time seeing Houston departing from KPJ before seeing what he looks like with Ime, for all of KPJ's warts he actually put in a really solid season last year and is still very young.
If you just throw age aside on Harden and Brook Lopez, those moves alone would vault the Rockets into the postseason. If we can keep most of our young core and they take the next step as NBA players that's a plus too. Utilize the #4 on Amen or a trade to add another veteran. Rockets ready for the all-in... going to be an explosive off-season.
Play-in contention if the key pieces are relatively healthy for sure, but yeah at Harden and Lopez' ages, they are definitely transitionary pieces to the next generation, not the building blocks. They will make us competitive in the short term, with it being the youth's job to grow into making us competitive in the long term.
I like it but with all the smoke surrounding Harden and/or Kyrie leads me to believe Tillman/Stone want a proven star. I don't think this young team needs a Murray... they need a star they've looked up too since they were kids.
Youth progression is very important, Udoka is going to sift out who's the best for the team and who needs to go. I'm not a cap guy but I think Udoka would love to add Cam or Mikal, Grant Williams and Brook Lopez as an alternative to Kyrie or Harden if they stay with their teams. Vets who can understand what Udoka's message is and hold the young guys accountable. They really, really need that. Guys like Jabari and Sengen could grow as players SO MUCH in an off-season. They've never played with seasoned pros of this level ever.

You may be right. It wouldn't surprise me if the Nets view Bridges as near-untouchable. But the Nets are in a weird spot. Bridges and their core make them play-in competitive, but not really true competitors, and they (1) don't have ammo to trade for a star; and (2) can't tank. If they want to tank, the only realistic way they can is by trading with us.
Only thing is kmj has said he wants to be a starter and complained at first cause he wasn’t a starter
draft is just 10days out and to date only guys we’ve had in for workouts are the usual undrafted viper candidates
