If Tari can continue to improve at rim and not become a black hole on fast breaks / whenever he gets the ball…. Then yes
KPJ, Tari, or Brandon Miller are the three most-likely options as things stand right now Too many different wing possibilities in free agency/trades to possibly predict right now though. I would still love to somehow get Jaden McDaniels from Minnesota. But I'll acknowledge that's a pretty low probability.
After getting a C and PG (our main areas of deficiency) we won’t have much money left and frankly shouldn’t tie up too much more. I’m comfortable signing someone like Justin Holiday and letting him battle it out with Tate and Tari for starting spot and minutes. The best shooter should start and I think at least one of them can hit 36%. Jabari, KJ and KPJ can all help too. We need role players on the floor with our scorers. Since we have a scorer at SG it only makes sense to have a defense-first SF to guard the best wings.
I would like Cam Johnson. I feel he would fit in seamlessly with the team because of his strengths and It would leave resources to fill in other team needs.
The great thing about bidding for Cam Johnson is that it really increases the value of that 2024/2025 assets if we get him OR if they match then it locks down their cap flexibility a bit.
I would love to see Reaves/Lopez brought in at PG/C and Miller at SF. I wouldn't mind Amen if Miller is gone.
That's tough. I feel half the Rockets front office wouldn't trade Sengun for anything. half the others in the front office understand it's business. [ Front Office 50/50 split ] Houston fans 75% want to keep Sengun Sengun Only Fans are 100% keep Sengun I'm of the 25% that thinks I can get passers in position 1,2,3,&4 to offset any lack of passing/assists by any one player (Sengun). I'm a believer that KPj is 23 but has a mentality of a few years delayed. When he was 19 he had the troubled youth mentality of a 16 year old. Now that he is 23 his mind is developing and catching up to his body (20 y/o mind). If players peak average is at age 27.....some team would benefit from his trajectory of: 19 points (22/23) 6.2 assists (21/22) 5.3 rebounds (22/23) 78%...FT% (22/23) 52.2% eFG% (22/23) 56.5% TS% (22/23) 37.5% 3P% (21/22) I'm a strong believer Udoka would convince both Harden and KPj to dribble the air out of the ball less and conform to the modern era concept of ball sharing by committee. Spread the wealth. Having said that, I'd reluctantly put KPj with Sengun in a trade for either Jaylen Brown or Bridges. Problem for me is that I think Jalen Green is going to be top tier. When we drafted him I predicted that it would take 3 years to fill out and absorb contact..... 22 pts (as rook), 25 pts (as Soph), 30 pts in 3rd year How did it turn out?..... 17.3 pts (as rook), 22.1 pts (as Soph), 28 pts may be realistic projection in 3rd yr if we are done tanking and add screening off ball action (movement). I'm not willing to trade him as all the teams want him because they know he is going to be really really good. I need to move some players like Kenyon, Tate, JC, TyTy, Garuba needs to have Sengun wrapped around them to get the most. No teams trust KPj and Jabari with those guys probably doesn't move the needle. They'd take Sengun and Jabari but would rather not trade Bari or Tari. My trade options to trade Sengun are limited: team needs to have a good vet.... and said vet needs to want to come to Houston. Ex: Dame, CP3, Kawhi say no to Houston Boston in trade for Jaylen Brown Boston in trade for Marcus Smart Boston for both Raptors in trade for *Siakim Raptors in trade for OG Anunoby Raptors for both Nets in trade for Mikal Bridges Bulls for Patrick Williams/Caruso Hornets for LaMelo 76ers for SnT with Morey for Harden.....but TF probably says nah Morey would take Tate, Kenyon as they lost Thybulle and possibly moving Tobias Harris and Harden *Siakim scores well in all play types (except for spot up 0.88)...will flourish in Udoka system if 3-point shooters are added. Could be a rental though just like Jaylen Brown.
Yeah, I'm hoping they find a trade partner to take KJ off our hands for a reasonable return. He could be useful for a lot of teams in luxury tax hell and he'd fit much better on a team that already has good spacing than one which is struggling with that.
Thanks for that response, really out some thought into it. I agree on a lot of it. I would also take those two trades you proposed for brown or bridges in a heartbeat. However I doubt Celtics or Nets would take that. It will be an interesting off season regardless. I’m excited for it
Yes, Locked on Rockets host went on the Locked on Nets show and did a version of a trade I proposed: (mine was) Sengun/Kenyon/JC x Cam Johnson ...................................(Cam is a RFA....SnT players can't be packaged w/ another) but in order to get Sengun they have to do a 2nd deal: Tate x Nic Claxton JG (from Locked on Rockets) proposed: Sengun/others (KPj/Kenyon/Tate?) x Mikal Bridges/ Nic Claxton The host from Locked on Nets laughed. He responded Claxton is beloved beyond belief by Nets fans, they would squash that deal in a heartbeat......JG responded by saying, Sengun is beloved by Rockets fans. They are going to grill me for just mentioning that trade. They both laughed, and said yeah, some fans don't always have a fair sense of value of their players and those of others. ______________________ Celtics and Nets probably want too much for Brown and Bridges so I don't often mention them. But stranger things have happened. Stone has his homework cut out for him....most definitely. This offseason can make or break him. All I know is Udoka was asked by Vanessa Richardson in an interview: what direction and what type of players are you looking for? (Not exact question) He responded: 1) SF's/wings that play defense and can shoot 3's. Kinda cancels out Kenyon/Tate. KPj will be pushed to play defense. 2) Center that can defend the rim and be a screen & lob threat. To me that kinda pushes Sengun to PF predominately, bench or off the team. 3) Complete team buy-in to defense and passing the ball. I offer players that can mostly complete that vision.
The answer is Victor Wembanyama. We are going to trade all of Tilman's restaurants and casinos plus this year's #4 and #20 picks and all of the Nets picks to the Spurs for the #1 pick.
I’m going to take a page out of your playbook and act like my opinion is fact. Sengun will not be traded this year.
My playbook.....I always say everything is speculation. The silly season has us wanting everyone. Things have to be taken with a grain of salt. For the most part I back up most of what I say with stats. Take in mind, coaches like to repeat what has been successful previously......Silas had certain play types and certain personnel to fit said play types. So when Udoka says he wants bigs that are mobile, athletic, can set screens, protect the rim, and lob threat. Robert Williams is exhibit A. Al Horford scored well defensively prior to Udoka taking over after Brad Stevens. Can post the video again that posted the numbers. I'll go ahead and find it and link it. Not sure if you mean when I say KPj won't be traded until the trade deadline because: 1) many CF's members say KPj is too volatile and unpredictable and may lash out vs team and teammates without John Lucas. What team is taking a chance on that? 2) He gave up some bonus money when he sat out and didn't play game number 60 on the season. Rockets brass talked him into that. Allowed the Rockets to have $2 million more to spend on the team this summer. You think they are going to turn around and trade him. That's cold blooded. They wouldn't wish that on Sengun but easily treat the black man like that? That's B.S. His agent would get the word out!!
@Hemingway At the 8:22 mark you find the defensive conversation. Al Horford in 2019 was 1.4 possessions in isolations defensively at .77 PPP; Udoka had him switch more and that changed to 2.5 possessions at .73 ppp [ says it In the video ]
