Did you see how steadily and easily that dude just undressed both Marbury and Dwayne Wade? Manu Ginobili came to prominence during the Argentinian team's championship run in the Basketball World Championships two years ago. How about picking up this Italian kid for the Rockets?

A 6'2'' 29 year old PG who has never played in the US??

If he was a legit prospect, he would have been drafted about 7 years ago.

Even if the ROX did sign him, i dont think he could help the team right away. He isnt used to the NBA style of play, itll take a good 1 or 2 seasons for him to get a nice feel for the NBA. Not that the ROX would even sign him but this is just for conversation.

I thought ya'll are talking about "Fuselli" (SP?) The guy hit 7-15 three pointers, was absolutely unstoppable.

So why advantages does he hold over serviceable PGs who are already in the NBA?

    None.

The dude was abusing Allen Freaking Iversion! Not to mention Marbury and Wade. He has a nice handle!

I didn't get to see the game but I noticed from the highlights and from what my broher told me (he watched it) that that Bicelli (spelling?) couldn't miss a three. Is this the same guy you are talking about or does Bicelli play the 2 or 3?

From what I saw, Bicelli's shot was so effortless and he looked like just a awesome pure shooter. But, then again, I only saw the highlights. It would be nice to have a guy like that just to sit outside and drain 3's when Yao and Tmac kick it out.

I didn't see the game, but the question remains: did he or did he not school the US PGs?

Other serviceable PGs already in the NBA don't usually do that.

Every dog has and had his day. Everyone NBA stud gets outperformed by a lesser player every so often.

If the hundreds of NBA scouts thought this guy could make it in the NBA, he would have been drafted or at least been in someone's training camp the last 7 or 8 years.

It wouldn't hurt to invite him to the training camp. The reward might be huge.

    You mean, like Oscar Schmidt?

The guy might just have had a great day, but he might also just be constantly good enough for the NBA. How would you know?

I bet there are hundreds of players around the world who COULD play in the NBA, but for one reason or another are not currently playing there.

I'm actually fairly sure that there must be at least 10 point guards in international play who are better than a Moochie Norris or Howard Eisley. Those guys have never been drafted by the NBA either.

Just because you are not in the NBA (yet) or some scouts have not made sure you got drafted does not mean you could not be better than some backup NBA player - I think the recent results in international play seem to indicate this as well.

Not everyone is discovered. Sometimes you have to be marketed. And this was his time to shine. The kid may just have a game.

Box score for the game between USA and Italy:

    http://www.usabasketball.com/seniormen/2004/04_msnt_box2.html

The Italian PG's name is Gianmarco Pozzecco. We were killed by their SG, Gianluca Basile, who was 7-15 from behind the arc. And their PF, Giacomo Galanda, was 5-8 from the 3s. Maybe we should have another thread of signing Basile to backup TMac and Galanda to start 4 since he was giving Duncan big trouble yesterday, and we can use his outside shooting touch to free Yao from some double teams?

And I am predicting that we will have another 20 threads after the Olympics to sign this Argentina white cat, that Serbia black cat, those Lithuvania tigers to start at 1, backup 3, backup 5 because they are all amazing talents and can lead the routs against the US creamy team 6.;)
