$70 for a haircut and beard trim is ridiculously ridiculous.

Man, I was pissed my barber's rate went to $28. lol. I pretty much go there for the conversations and listen to her talk about the random doings of upper management and C-Suite types that go there to get their hair cut. Part of the fun for me going to a barbershop is the conversation, but I'd never pay $70+ for a haircut. That's nuts. And that's considering I only get my hair cut maybe once every 4-6 weeks.

    I couldn't agree more.

I haven't paid for a haircut since high school. I cut my hair for years once I bought cheap clippers in college and when my wife decided she wanted it longer than I wore it I let her cut it how she wanted it. My haircuts are done in like 10 mins, she cuts my hair in about 20. I would never pay more than $10 bucks and the hassle of having to waste time a couple hours of my day just to get my hair cut would be an excruciating waste of time, even more than the cost.

$70 for a haircut is wild

I wouldn’t even let a barber touch my beard

No kidding? I used to go to Peter (himself). He gave me a great haircut…..until he gave me a really bad one. Probably my bad for not paying more attention in Spanish. Now I’ve moved on to Edgar at “the man’s chair” on gessner. It’s a pain to get an appointment, but no bad haircuts yet and the price is good.

Not Asian but there’s one called Dana Hair Salon on Fannin St. that I used to go to. They used to do $5 haircuts but I think now charge $10, $8 for the beard. and accept cards for like $1-2 extra. They also seem to do manicures/pedicures in the back. If it’s hot outside they don’t have very good AC.

I don’t patronize any places that charge extra for cards. It’s just dumb - build the fees into your costs.

It’s possible they did build it in when they raised the prices. I just remember the charge from when it was half the price.

It’s personal for them for some reason to pay those fees. I’ve known a few small business owners who absolutely hate and won’t use certain types of CCs due to the fees they’ve paid at their own businesses. Always a bad idea to let emotion into business. Not a huge deal but I find that it’s time consuming to be angry and time is money in business. /shrug.

I think I pay $70 actually. No beard stuff though. Just an eyebrow trim. I'm not cutting down trees in the forest for a living I'm a normal person.

I quit having my hear professionally cut 10 years ago when I could no longer find anyone that does bangs and feathering.

    This is the proper way!

Time = something you can't get more of, and the cost $35/70 per trip adds up very quickly.

I personally just buy a pack of feather safety razor blades ($20-30 for 50-100+) and use that for the next year or two. I shave head and beard etc, but regardless minimum of new blade each week. Prior to going full bald though used similar method to yours or through family member. Not paying prices like that unless it's making me money, haha

I can afford to not give a f**k, sorry about all that.
