Then they'd be the greatest team by run differential of all time.

Tip your hat at that point.

The Rangers offense is like a video game right now. Just remember though, regular season stats mean nothing in the playoffs.

i'm just glad the astros aren't in the AL East.

brutal of a division. also, astros don't have the luxury to feast on the AL West anymore this season since they have to play against every team.

It’s 100 more games to go. Their pitchers are having career years up until know. Don’t care about the offense.

Going to have to beat the rangers head to head. Their schedule doesn’t really have a rough stretch where you can see them losing a bunch of games. However, the yankees looked uncatchable at this point last season, so you never know.

This year's Rangers team reminds me of the 2021 and 2022 Toronto teams. Explosive offensively, solid but not dominant pitching wise. These types of teams can win a lot of regular season games and make the playoffs, but they tend to get exposed in the playoffs, often early on in the postseason. deGrom is elite and they may get him back soon, but I think some of their other starters may be overachieving a bit. Tons of season left...the law of averages will eventually work its magic and they'll regress back to the mean a bit.

They are definitely much improved though, perhaps their best team since they last went to the WS in 2011. They should be taken seriously. I see them nabbing a wild card spot. The Astros are still the best team in the division.

Rangers have 4-5 regulars hitting 100 points above their career OPS and/or having the best season of their career (not including rookies or 2nd/3rd-year players)

Meanwhile, Astros are paying 20 million for a guy who's 300 points below his career average

That's pretty much everything in a nutshell, offensively

3.5 games isn't insurmountable, but the Astros need to hit .800 OPS the remainder of the season and the Rangers to cool down if they're gonna win the division

If we can be 95% healthy going into the playoffs, I'd take that over everything

Anybody else want to post how far ahead of the Astros the Yankees were last season at this point?

granted, it’s a diffferent year and anything can happen… but it’s still amazing how defiant some of you are when you have hundreds of recent examples (just last year) or where standing can change drastically with this much of the season left.

if the Astros continue to pitch well, they’ll continue to have the sort of winning they’ve had for the last month+.

And results in early June don’t correlate to results in August.

Rangers are working some voodoo magic right now

They might be the luckiest team in MLB history thru 60 games

Five position players OPS'ing 100 points above their career average

Three starting pitchers throwing half their ERA career average

That’s absurd lol. In 2016 they were the luckiest team I can recall. Having said that, being a strike away from their only championship not once but twice and failing to convert is absolutely ****ing DELICIOUS.

I’m not even concerned about the Rangers. They can even win the division. I care about the Astros and their relative health and improvement.

I appreciate Nelson's defensive prowess still to this day

2016, their lucky record relative to their run-diff was proven when they got blown out of the playoffs

The Astros' offense has been excellent since Altuve's return.
