I am soo excited about Diaz. I think if he got regular at bats he could very conservatively hit .250 to .260 with 700 ops and 15 home runs. If we can get thay production from our catcher, we would be golden.

We talked about this a little bit on my podcast a couple weeks ago after looking at quality of contact stats and Diaz are all really good. He’s undoubtedly hit into some bad luck this year. He’s had about as tough a time breaking in as any rookie could- not getting regular AB’s, not getting put in friendly situations (Ph against a couple closers) not having advantageous match ups hunted because it’s all about who he catches, etc. He had minor league stats. He has scouts in his corner. He has expected stats that are good. He has now started to demonstrate in game power. It’s getting to the point where I would be absolutely shocked if he is not, at a minimum, a league average bat. I expect him, when he becomes a regular,to put up something like a 100-120 ops a few times and be a 4 WAR guy and an all star in his better seasons.
