[Draft news] Scoot working out with Charlotte and Portland

Bah. Feels like an "Mobley not working out for Houston" situation.

 

This may reflect more on his ego. He's been very vocal about thinking he should go #1 over Wemby. Likely he thinks it's impossible that he slips past Portland. (And he might not be wrong.)

I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I would think it'd take a miracle for him to fall to #4.

 

I have it as 1 in 10 odds at best. The likeliest pathway would be Charlotte taking Miller (which is being reported as likely, but I don't know if I fully believe it).

After that, Portland or somebody they trade their pick to would have to like Amen over Scoot due to overestimating the importance of size. That's the part which is a bigger stretch, but it is the kind of mistake front offices sometimes make.

So I wouldn't rule it out completely, but I wouldn't get your hopes up either. Same kind of fool's errand as banking on landing Wemby, and we saw how that turned out.

 

The dream of Scoot falling to four is a delusion. At 2 Charlotte has to take best available, if they don’t Portland takes him or someone trades up to 3. He had zero reason to work out for Houston.

All it takes is for the teams ahead of us to draft for positional need instead of BPA. It's not that far fetched.

 

Sounded like he said "I think there's one more ... in Charlotte" to me, but I could be mistaken.

 

One team is feasible, two is extremely unlikely. They would just trade down to 4 or 5 and get a future first or good young player in the process.

 

Why are there no pics of Dame smiling at Scoot like he did with Amen?

 

I agree that it's very unlikely, but not impossible, since we already have reports that Charlotte is leaning Miller (which may or may not turn out to be accurate), and some teams reportedly have Amen at #2 on their draft boards. Since we don't know which teams those are, you have to think there's at least a chance, however unlikely.

 

Does anyone know who or when are the rockets working players out? So far I’ve read Jette Howard but that’s it

 

If they like Amen he might not make it to 5. I don't think it's extremely unlikely that Charlotte takes Miller or that Portland takes Thompson.

Miller sliding to 4 is more likely imo, would you draft him there or trade down perhaps?
