Not sure if this belongs in D&D, but I like many of you, feel like I am aging out of the very internet I grew up with for 30 years. Confused, uncool, and nowhere to scroll: The internet has become hostile for millennials like me If TikTok is too young, Facebook is too geriatric and Twitter is a cesspit, where are digital natives – who practically invented the ways we use the modern internet – expected to go, asks Harriet Gibsone While scrolling through a lengthy photo dump of a friend’s recent paddleboarding excursion in Cornwall, I was hit by a wave of existentialism. The toxic dopamine spikes from social media that once jolted my soul were now gone. In its place was a heavy shame. “This place used to be sexy and fun,” I thought, while opening, closing, then reopening the Instagram app. “How pathetic it is to be a millennial social media addict.” Given the definition of a “millennial” encompasses both a 28-year-old Gigi Hadid and a 42-year-old Pitbull, it would be reckless of me to generalise the status of an entire generation. Yet due to fastidious research (scrolling until my eyes bleed) and my age group’s alleged predisposition to make literally every passing thought into a narcissistic melodramatic state of the nation essay, I can officially declare that millennials are done. Jettisoned. We have no place online in 2023. https://www.independent.co.uk/life-...et-social-media-b2348853.html?utm_source=digg
I've managed to stay ahead of the curve.... I'm kinda meta! (Hint) Buy a skateboard!! ....... ....... .......
Honestly as a millennial I totally agree. Clutchfans in the only social outlet online that I do out of joy. Even twitter has been taken from me by the algorithm, can't even enjoy finely tuned funny memes any more! I am on Facebook because if you aren't people are like OMG are you going through a divorce. I am on Instagram because i don't even know why, to see the memes my wife sends to me? I'm not on tiktok cause I am 35. I managed to delete snapchat last year and not look back.
I had my "wtf am I even doing here" moment with regard to social media maybe 7-8 years ago. Scrubbed and deleted everything. It's an improvement.
“If that is the case, perhaps it’s time for me, and the rest of my anxious, internet-addled generation, to do the most credible thing we’ve ever done: log out for good.”
Nah, how about... Jonathan Turley: Given Joe Biden's confused and out-of-touch digital leadership, Millennials find themselves turning in surprising numbers to the GOP.
Social media is a breeding ground for toxicity and has done more damage than good for lots of young people who don’t get likes or get bullied that I’m glad you foolish kids are outgrowing it. get off my lawn -Gen X
Or take it to the PG13 forum with one of OsT's wet dreams: Turley and Althouse, gallon of canola, inflatable pool
by the way, one cannot be hit by a wave of "existentialism." One can hit hit by a wave of existential despair, or hopelessness, or anxiety, or ennui, even angst, or weltschmerz. But one cannot be hit by a wave of existentialism.
