I think it would just make the game softer and we would see even less defense. And suddenly shooting free throws at the end of games would feel to some like the brakes are being applied.
Different FT rules based on time periods feels like doing too much. Rather try the 1 FT change, halftime being shorter sure, less timeouts/commercials sure.
we don't need to change anything, on the contrary we need to stick more to the rules handbook we already have, meaning we need non-rigging zebras who call the fuking game like it is. and that starts with silver getting sent upstate
You get an extra timeout instead of the Halftime break, makes sense and the bathroom break so that someone like Paul Pierce could hold it together.
The game lengths after they reduced the timeouts is just fine. Game 1 was literally like 2h10m last night lol. Only thing they need to do is institute a one minute limit on reviewing replays. Better yet, have the review commence immediately after the play and have the replay center call in with the decision. Just speed those up is all you need to do.

i only wish the nba call less fouls on lakers, celtics, and san franciso players. they need more help imo
Imagine how many points Shaq would have! haha That would be awful, though. Games come down to free throws missed worth of points in a loss. JVG just wants go home early haha. Here's how you fix the NBA. Enforce your own damn rules. Stop letting these players get away with so much carrying of the ball and traveling. Punish flopping with camera review-yes it will slow the game down for a time, but once players know a punishment will be given for flopping that could cost their team a loss-they will start to decline in flopping. Stop bias calls for the Lakers. A plague on the league since the 70s. Get rid of the Play-In Tournament-Mavs just proved you can still tank it if you don't care about losing in the 1st round. Let defenders DEFEND to balance this overly offensive oriented league! Bring back hand checking and allow more physicality in the trenches. Continue to punish overly aggressive non basketball physicality. 90s/2k physical intimidation without trying to end anyone's career. STOP SOFT TOUCH FOULS! STOP CALLING THAT TIP TAP ****!
If length is a concern they could get rid of the national anthem. For raptors games that's a two-fer. Play a short clip of the NBA on NBC theme, then start the game.
It's not fair to give good FT players and bad FT players the same amount of points. How about giving them points according to their FT average? A 70% FT shooter gets 1.4 points for ever 2pt shooting foul. A 90% FT shooter gets 1.8 points, etc. You round up the decimal points to a full point at the end of the game.
I have said this several times watching with my son. Why the hell can they not have people watching all these games? Speeding up this process is so obvious it's nuts.
Was watching the Ralph Sampson rockets the other say, and they played fast. Not well. But Fast. I'm not sure I saw one play run. One pass and shoot for most of the game. It was fast break all the time. Great pace of play.
