If he keeps getting swings like he has the last 2 games good results will come eventually.

    eventually?
I thought everyone thought this dude was THE STUD 1B and power hitter when he signed... wtf you mean eventually(?)... and you're using 2 games as a sample size...???

Hey friend... news flash: this guy is WASTED.

Dude is definitely generating more power from his back leg. Compare his swing from last few days vs the beginning of the season. He's getting there

I almost don't want to post this because I don't want to jinx it, but f**k it.

His hard hit% over the last 25 balls in play is up to 56%, exit velocity is 93.1, xBA is .330 and his xSlg is .462. It hasn't shown in the results yet, but he looks really close.

I do think that HR was the start of something. Whether it broke a mental block or was just the result of swing tinkering, he’s looked like a different hitter since that point. I’m hopeful he’ll be a wRC+ 115 guy from here on out, which isn’t to the standard we were hoping for but still a solid guy in the 6 or 7 hole of a championship lineup.

That DP he hit into yesterday was smoked. Too bad the SS actually made a play on it.

Can't believe Dusty didn't pinch hit him for Maldy yesterday.

What we are witnessing this year is the absence of Click in the front office. Just watch. There's nobody to keep Dusty in check.

Does he still look really close? What exactly are we waiting for? The dude isn’t a young up and comer. He’s 36. You sign guys like this bc you’re expecting immediate production. We’re 35% through the season and the dude is literally the worst everyday player in baseball.

Help us Dana, you’re our only hope.

How long do they allow Abreu to keep digging? He should hit -1.5 WAR in a few weeks which would be one of the worst seasons of any player from 2022. Do they let him hit -2 WAR before beginning to syphon PAs from him?

I read this post and checked the clock for past midnight

He repeated the same "yesterday" in Game 2 vs Toronto

Maldy capped it off his K with a throwing error later, same inning

So far our offseason signing to boost the offense is costing us about 27 million (brantley and abreu) and honestly brantley has been less damaging to the team. We could have very easily spent that money to resign yuli and get perhaps one of the top center fielders that were available. Julks would have been just fine at left with yordan at dh. Could have saved even more by just going Diaz full time

I hate Maldy. That being said, if this team is firing on most of the cylinders, he's mostly a moot point. Trouble is, we aren't consistent and Maldy is a glaring hole.

True. The problem is Dusty just refuses to remove him from games, even clutch situations.

Defensively Jose Abreu is a Liability, His Lack of Speed Defensively compared to Yuli Gurriel. And Looks injured, His Home Run Power comes from his Legs.

Martin Maldonado is very Lazy, always on One Knee and One Hopper, Past Ball. Not Underhand his Glove to Block the Ball. Martin overhands it which is annoying.

1B and Catcher is a Huge Issue

Yainer Diaz Deserves to Start at Catcher
Korey Lee should get called up and Split Time at Catcher.

1B I would try out Corey Julks and Mauricio Dubon. Dubon is a Excellent Defender.

Haven't watched Yainer a ton, but is he serviceable at 1b?
