You pay them as salary ballasts. Once you’re capped out you only have so many assets. TF did not allow Morey to use every asset to better the team. He instead dumped salary with picks and never took on additional salary. Getting even a semi rotation player for the regular season is worth it. These were on the margin moves but they needed to be done when facing the GOAT team of all time.

Sign guys on positive contracts or on the upswing. Use the cap to absorb some other desperate teams flotsam. Don’t blow your wad when all of team building in the NBA is about to change completely.
All this talk about 2 timelines - the Rockets one timeline has no stars, has no players over 6-9 or defend, not much passing - it's a pretty rank ass timeline. But whoo boy, the 4th best 19 or 20 yo is slated to join next year. Wow, You can continue on the 1 timeline but considering it looks like **** and the pieces don't fit - i suggest another one. It's hard to really consider trajectories that are substantially worse than bottom of the league for 3 years with between 0 and 1 future stars to show for it, but, here we are. Here's a wack ass idea - i expect the Rockets to field a team once this decade that has a greater than 25% Chance of winning a ******* game. I know that's selfish and shortermist of me to ask. But, idk im old man.
Sam, The problem with that is it says that we were doing the best to win with that group and not that Silas was just not doing enough. I believe that group alone with Ime is worth 10 more wins - and if you add a Bridges, Johnson, Williams or Brown etc....or a couple you take another leap...... I don't think adding Amen Thompson gives you anything other than a player that is 2-3 years from being a good NBA player. DD
At the end of the day it’s entertainment. Some people want the Miami approach some want the OKC. No hate on what kind of entertainment you want. My preference is sustainable growth and unified pull in the same direction. I have not seen that with the FA. They just had one goal. Let’s suck. I wish it was more nuanced than rhat.
Agreed about Ime. Instilling a system and playing our guys strengths will be amazing. Johnson and Brown are the guys I would agree with you on. I just want the team to target positive value guys on non exorbitant deals. Even brown is someone I’m hesitant on. I love Jaylen but are you willing to pay the 25th best player who has shaky handles 50 million.

He hasn’t known what he’s been doing since 2017 and counting. Continuously proving he’s the worst owner in the league every year and doesn’t know a damn thing about the game of basketball he’s just as dumb as the armchair bootlickers on this board that think like him
As long as they arent bringing in vets/stars and getting rid of young guys that have yet to peak ive got no issue. But im fine with adding guys that will push this team into the competitive realm.
Are you seriously gonna go with the "likely we have future all stars" when all you spit constantly is ish about everyone except your boy? Would love to hear who the "likely alpha" is. ???
Again, it depends on what else they do. If it's trading 4 for Bradley Beal I agree that would be dumb. If they are moving 4 to get Jaylen Brown, Ja Morant, Darius Garland, or Trae Young, you can be ok with it. A #4 pick is roughly a hit about a third of the time... that is a factor...
It's a business.....don't get too attached Players tend to develop and or peak around age 27. So most players move on from their original teams and seek greener fields elsewhere. The other day stats were presented on players becoming All Stars by position in draft selected.... But what are the stats for those players becoming All Stars with the original team that drafted them? Nerlens Noel and Okafor wanted out of Philly before becoming free agents......we see Kenyon (and his dad) want out if he does not start. Get value for him now.
I don't know, but my best GUESS is that eventually it will be Jabari......then Sengun, KPJ and Green in that order..... DD
Don't worry, we are already the worst team in the competition with only "potential" over any real substance. It literally cannot get any worse for Rockets fans.
