Had to check and see who he was talking about that was talking crazy as soon as he got into the game. When they asked him what was his favorite bucket of the game, he said "every bucket on him". lolol. That would've been James Rojas of Alabama coming back from an ACL injury.
No team is going into the game looking at Tari or making sure he doesn’t go off. Green on the other hand…
I really like Eason but y’all really think that he has a super unselfish player? I mean, playing hard and being unselfish aren’t the same thing. I saw a guy this year that plays hard as hell but also played selfishly at times. Maybe not on purpose but way way to prone to tunnel vision offensively.
Trying to compare Green's scoring to Tari is pretty hilarious to me. There is literally no team out there that gives two turds about Tari on offense. You really think any NBA coach is out there going, "Yeah, that #17 kid might be a problem"? Eff no! Eason got his poor % numbers with MINIMAL defensive awareness by opposing teams. Green, on the other hand, other teams are keyed in the moment he steps on the court because he DOES have the ability to go off for 30 on any given night.
In last years draft i wouldnt have traded up for Tari, but i thought picking him where we did was a good move. I think he can be a starter or heavy rotation bench player on a contender. You need role players. And i think Tari is a good role player. That said im not passing up guys with potential to be stars because Tari is on the roster.
Sengun definitely gets extra defensive attention once he gets into his post area in the paint. He does suck in the defense when that happens creating a lot of open cutting lanes and 3 pt shots. Issue with Sengun is that he's almost ignored by defenses once he is outside the paint.
I look at the selfishness as having some initiatives. Silas didn't drew any plays for him. And in post interviews it's always spun as a positive: "Tari did xyz well, despite not having any plays called for him". It's not about comparing offensive potential between a Green and a Tari. It's about not completely starving someone. In an entirety of a game, few plays can go a long way. Lot of coaches at the beginning of the game feed their center for a couple possessions, so they feel involved on the offense. If Tari busts his butt crashing the board, or gets a steal and goes on a fast break, if he caused the opponent to turnover, I'm not mad if he cashes in on it. A middle child needs love too.
Definitely not selfish. Players who care about team defense are rarely ever selfish. He attacks a lot on offense cause he was a 6th man in college and he was kind of given the same role in our unstructured offense. My instinct is that he's going to be limited to corner 3pt shots, cuts to the basket if they close out and transition opportunities. That's perfect for him at this point in his development. Next season we should never see him try to create points.
