Dude It will be a whole different story if Abreu starts mashing again. I am dying for that to happen.
The Rangers are playing at the highest level they can play at right now and are only up on the Astros 3 games in the division. If the Astros start hitting like the Astros again we got this.
They’re only 3 off last years pace, with only 2 of their starting pitchers and largely no Altuve. Did you all totally somehow suppress all of last year and the playoffs? All these lineup complaints were rampant right up through game 6.
Tale of the tape, Astros vs Rangers: C: Maldy vs Heim: huge advantage Rangers 1B: Abreu vs Lowe: huge advantage Rangers 2B: Altuve vs Semien: push SS: Pena vs Seager: advantage Rangers 3B: Bregman vs Jung: push RF: Tucker vs Garcia: big advantage Astros CF: Meyers vs Taveras: push LF: McCormick vs Grossman: advantage Astros DH: Alvarez vs Duran: huge advantage Astros Bench: Diaz/Dubon/Brantley/? vs Garver/Smith/Jankowski/?: push SP: Valdez/Brown/Javier/McCullers/Urquidy/France vs DeGrom/Eovaldi/Gray/Perez/Heaney/Dunning: TBD, injuries will play a big part but for now I would give the Rangers a slight edge if everybody is healthy RP: Astros pretty significant advantage for now Going into the deadline, the Astros will add a bat at C or 1B, the Rangers will address their bullpen and maybe add an OF. Should be an exciting division race.
Rangers have for the most part nailed their FA signings while the Astros had one of the worst off-seasons for them this millennium.
Really? "Yuli's consistency in the post season? Yuli played in 17 post seasons. In 8 of those his OPS was under .700 In 5 of them his OPS was under .500 His OPS was only .800+ in 5 of them.
Seems like a lot a newbs in the threads this year and the predominant theme has been constant b****ing no matter the outcome
I refuse to believe position in a batting order makes this much of a difference. A hitter should be able to hit wherever he is with only slight variations with better pitches to hit. However regardless of what I believe, Pena has to stay in the 2 spot. I'm sure the numbers will trend backwards eventually if he stays there, but the numbers are too stark right now for him to not be there even if I think they are mostly fluky.
Saturdays 1-5 is the ideal lineup, and I think dusty somewhat knows that. Problem is there’s nobody that’s a consistent threat with pop behind tucker. Until teams are ready to sell, the only real option with that potential is Diaz. Give him a lot more ABs at DH to get a legit sample size, and see what he’s got. If he’s shown he’s not it by trade time then make a move for that bat… *Abreu will be in the lineup whether he figures it out or not, and I’m not counting on uncle mike to be healthy.
