Abreu has good postseason success in his limited chances -- .871 OPS and 5 RBIs in 7 games I'm more concerned he's fallen off a cliff permanently
Looking at the very real possibility that the Rangers win this division, here is how we stack up in the wildcard race: Orioles. 33-19 Astros... 30-21 Yankees 31-23 Angels....28-24 Red Sox. 27-24 Mariners 27-25 Blue Jays 27-26 Looking at the schedule, the toughest stretch is latter part of July though almost the middle of September. It's a 7 week stretch that will test us. We need to be playing .600+ ball the time we get there.
I'm old enough to remember when the 2022 Yankees were never going to lose a game but then July and the Stros happened. But should the Wild card be in fate's hands, some around here, including myself, have always wanted to win a World Series as the wild card. (2013 threads)
I’ll believe it in a few more months. Their bullpen is brutal. It’s tough to keep up their pace with a bullpen that’s a total liability. Their offense is pretty damned ridiculous so far, though.
Rangers brought in a manager that knows how to get the best out of his players. Wish we had one of those....
Seager 6 weeks and now Degrom going on 5+ weeks. They have no bullpen. I don't think Smith makes it the entire season as an effective closer.
Let's at least get into the beginning of the dog days before we start crowning the damn Rangers. You see it all the time where teams peak too early, then flame out as the wear and tear of the season adds up. The Astros are time tested, and if anything, having someone to chase in the regular season might be a good change of pace for this team.
Yeah, I was thinking this weekend was the one we catch up or pass them, but they’ve handled Baltimore, not looking like they’re going to collapse like we all thought and they’ll make moves to improve the pen at the deadline. Going to be a race all season, maybe not if our bats don’t pick it up.
Rangers spent $500M on 2 position players and over $200M on their rotation. Not like their success should be shocking.
O.K., the consensus now is Abreu sucks and was a horrible signing and the Rangers are going to win the division. Let's hold those conclusions and see how they look in late July.
