Ouch. If Bill Worrell were calling this game he'd have to bust out his "premature ejoculation" quote.

So what exactly happens here? The last batter strikes out but thinks the catcher didn't cleanly catch the pitch, so he runs to 1st base. The catcher I guess believes he did catch it cleanly and so begins celebrating all while the runners are running around the bases? How did they not at least find the ball and stop the runners before they figured out what was going on? I mean, it takes a while to run all the way around the bases.
He clearly drops the strike 3 pitch which would allow the runner to go to first as there are 2 outs... but it may be because he thought he tagged him after he picked it up. The umpire doesn't really signal anything at first... but eventually a subtle "safe" call which means he didn't tag him (but by then, the catcher had already started celebrating). The only case that could be made for the impacted team is that maybe the umpire should have been more vocal/obvious on that he missed the tag... but is that really the umpires job at that point? Also the other team never stopped running... there are 9 guys on the field (plus the coaches) that could have tried to get their attention that they needed to continue to play.
HPU should point to first, indicating a throw and putout is needed. I love the, I think #33, running out to the mound, asking who has the ****ing ball. He was the one guy on the field who knew what was happening.
Kudos to the winning team and their runners. There was never any hesitation for them. They just kept going.
Would they have even seen that though? He barely got out the safe sign when the tag was clearly missed… but yeah, the umpire acting sorta like the game was over (but not really) probably compounded the situation.
