It's not like the international teams play together like the NBA teams and the Rockets had good chemistry.

And after it's all said and done, why don't we rename our team to the CNT Rockets.

    mobley 03-04: 42.6% FG 39.0% 3PT FG
    mobley 01-02: 43.8% FG 39.5% 3PT FG

y'all need some serious perspective. assuming we let the 2001 rockets have steve francis, they were a 26-31 team in the nba. that's something like a .458 winning percentage (and that's w/o our starting PF and SF for basically the whole season). if you think the CNT could post a .458 winning percentage in the nba, you're kidding yourself. i don't think they could post a .100 winning percentage based on how horrible their guards are apparently.

yao would be real formidable in the middle until he fouled out about 3 minutes into the game after trying to stop the 100th drive to the basket by francis and mobley.

and while i don't agree with lalala902102001 that every team would be better than Team USA, quite a few would. it would have been much more preferable to just send the spurs or kings or lakers or even the nets to the 2002 WC. as it was, we sent about our C or D team, a team that didn't fit well together because it had to be thrown together because of dropouts, and a team that didn't practice much together. if that argentina team really beat us because they know good basketball and we don't (which all the writers and purists love to pretend is the case), if they're really so much more effective than us, then they'd have 7 or 8 guys over here in the nba showing us how it's done. as it is, they'd have no shot as a team to be decent in the nba over the course of a season. it's just that Team USA isn't as good as sending a USA team.

Mobley had more chances in the zoneless era to drive to the hoop, which helped his fg%.

Nobody is saying that the CNT will post a 45% percentage in the NBA, just like nobody said the Argentina team that beat Team USA can do the same. I said in one game the CNT can be competitive, that's all.

No, the current CNT with Yao won't stand a chance against any NBA team.

What people forget is no matter how bad a NBA team is, they still have better talent than any colleage team, and they are a team, not just a simple collection of talent. If you believe that Rockets team is worse than a Division II NCAA team, or low rank Division I team, then yes, team China might stand a chance, because those were the teams they always played against when they visited the States in the past.

Historically, chinese teams play a finess type of game, and they have always had problem in dealing with physical plays with Euro teams. It's even tougher when face US teams, because in addition of the physical plays, they don't have the quickness advantage any more.

One easy way to evaluate the level of Chinese teams is by looking at how ex-NBA players fare in the CBA teams. Most of those dominating inside players, or PG in each CBA teams are the US players who couldn't even make any NBA teams here. So that pretty much shows you the level of the CBA teams.

Nobody can bash the next pg if he struggles in any way next season. I have read threads on NBA scrubs. Now we have international scrubs. Please make it stop!!! We need a proven NBA point guard. Can we get serious now? Please lock this thread.
