I’d really like us to take a look at bringing him in to start as SF. Good size, wingspan and shooting for the position. He can play the back up 4 as well in stretches. Only 29 years old and I imagine we can get him for 25 million a year. I think he is a better defender than Cam Johnson by a good bit.

    Thoughts?

I, for one, warmly welcome Harvey Grant to the board.

I'd love a shot at H. Jerami Grant, but does he want us? All of these free agent guys, it's all about if they want us and at what price.

Yes, I have my eye on Jeremi Grant In free agency since the draft order
was set. Dane wants out and the Blazers will probably have a fire sale.

Jeremi probably looks for another home.

I've seen others get more than $25M while posting lesser stats

But those are largely regarded as mistakes.

So we need a PG, a C and then maybe a 3&D wing. You want us to spend $25m on a PF who was the second best player on the 7th worst team. That's kind of ridiculous.

He is the kind of guy I'd be happy to pay 20ish mill only if we have managed to snag a genuine all star first, and also if we have traded a couple of young guys for a 2nd all star.

That is, not happy to get Jerami (or Harvey, Horace, or Houston) Grant if he is going to take touches from the young guys. He is pointless as a lead player for us - but as a 3rd add to 2 all stars and some parts of our young core, sure, why not!

Grant would be our 3 and D wing. Likely alongsude Harden.

Ohh there will be a lot mistakes this summer by a lot of teams.

Unless you have been living under a rock.....Houston Rockets are
regarded as Toxic, Bad Culture, Don't know what they are doing,
Broken, Clown Show, Sh#t Show, Dumpster Fire, G-League Trash,
    swamp scum.....

Free agents are not exactly going to knock down the doors of the Rockets.

    I have the Rockets targeting:
Cam Johnson - restricted free agent (lower bidding war on RFA)
Patrick Williams - trade ( Patrick Williams and Caruso fill two needs on this team)
Jerami Grant - unrestricted free agent

    Harden - at $38M (yes).....at max $$$ ( that's a no go for me)
Jaylen Brown - need to trade some of our best young ones (possible rental)
Mikal Bridges - need to trade some of our best young ones
Siakim - trade some of our best young ones

Jerami Grant made $20M last season and brought the stats.
Proven player that has been doing it for years. Austin Reaves
may want $20M and be a one hit wonder.

$20m is about what I was thinking, but you may be right that the market could be in the $25m range. But as you stated, there is probably not going to be a long line of players waiting to sign up for a team that has amassed 60 total wins over the past 3 seasons. That might be the reason the organization is so enamored with Harden (though I doubt he is as enamored as they are led to believe). Their best shot is probably going to be trading for a star player around the draft with hopes that will entice another to sign once free agency starts.

The other option is convince a couple of players to team up here with the young core. Jerami Grant and Fred VanVleet are both repped by Rich Paul. Give Grant $25m and FVV $30m. There would still be $10m or so to fill holes (possibly Grant Williams).

    FVV/Amen Thompson (#4)
    Green/KPJ
    Grant/KJM
    Jabari/Grant Williams
    Sengun/Garuba

Yeah, Van Vleet would be opting out of $22.8M......he would expect more.

I'm guessing every player/agent knows the Rockets have $62M
to spend.....may be some fleecing of the Rockets going on.
I would hit the Rockets up for more rather than less.

And I think you are going to need help from an agent to convince two clients to sign here. Otherwise, players are going to have to see some sort of movement on this roster before they sign here. I don't think anyone we take at #4 is going to do it.

    I agree.

Wemby would have convinced Dame/Jerami Grant to stay with Portland.

Wemby would have brought free agents our (Rockets) way.

I'm guessing the Rockets will need to make a trade to clear roster
space for a few free agents that the Rockets will have to overpay
    for.

This is why people see me trading for Cam Johnson or
Patrick Williams. Sending out our lower level players with
picks instead of potential future All Star and picks.

I like him. Can both play and guard multiple positions/switch defense. Long. Can take the ball to the paint. He prob will get more than 25 mil due to new CBA. Reports are saying he is eligible for 5 year 233 mil. Blazers likely lets him walk I believe but he will come at a price.
