I mean everyone knows Brown is a good player, but he isn't a great player. Yeah adding him will make the team better, but if we lose so many assets then it's not worth it. Boston has been known to destroy partners in trade they ain't trading brown for 2nd rounders and Tate cmon man.
I don't believe there's a scenario where Brown nets a lot of trade assets. He's either happily or forcing his way out. They're not willingly trading him. If he forces his way out, then he will say they can trade him now or he walks to the team for nothing after a lame duck year that compromises the Celtics title chances. They will then trade him for something respectable. Expect something like what the Nets got for Kyrie plus one protected pick. The only other scenario is that they supermax him with an agreement to trade him soon after. That can't be done till a quarter of the way into next season (since you have to wait after re-signing him I believe?). This is a highly unlikely scenario. I've always said the only shot we have is if we happen to be the team he demands the trade to. Any scenario where we have to convince Boston with assets is going nowhere anyway so don't worry about us giving up too much stuff.
You're on a roll buddy. I don't want to trade Green or Bari for Brown. I would retain Sengun for at least one more season.
Honestly the Rockets don't have anything valuable enough to trade for Brown outside of this year's pick.
I'll give them Tari Eason(which hurts), Tate and future pics... and that's it! Brown is leaving them anyway at some point why should we offer more?
First Brown has to make it clear to the Celtics that he isn’t returning under any circumstances to give the other team leverage. Then Rockets get: Jaylon Brown Celtics get: Jalen Green Alpi Sengun Kenyon Martin J. Tate? Plus picks? I dunno if that gets it done and that’s WITH LEVERAGE! Without Brown demanding out, Forget about it! I think it’s waay too expensive.
JB is a goner. I read an article where he wanted start a business in Boston and got denied. He wants to expand his wealth outside of basketball and Houston offers that.
As much as many people malign the idea of adding FVV, it would be a much better move to sign him outright and let KPJ play the Brown role of G/F and save all of those assets. You upgrade two positions (FVV is a PG upgrade over KPJ, and KPJ is a SF upgrade over KJM) and still have the ability to make improvements elsewhere. You save tons of money and assets.
With the money incentive from the Celtics, Brown is likely to stay with them. Rockets can still pursue, but probability of getting him went down significantly. FVV's agent Klutch Sports Group negotiate big money for their clients. They likely ask for an overpay but doesn't hurt to listen. We will also be competing with suitors. Few teams looking to upgrade their PG spot, include Orlando, Brooklyn, and Utah (Conley is gone).
Yeah it would be really stupid to have drafted them then trade them before the organization ever tried to win a game or help the coach. Those guys are almost certainly all going to have their best seasons, imagine trading them right before that. Plus we have future picks. To the Celtics they won't want picks or a 21 year old so why would we not insist on the picks as currency rather than the players we've already drafted and invested in and have the highest potential on the roster? Would be a shame if we don't get to see all that we tanked for working under Udoka. Unless there are players who have become red flags OFF the court according the organization, in which case I don't mind shipping them off.
Jalen Brown is the item you put in your cart, walk around the store and take him out right before you pay.
Maybe we should keep our pick and find a Jaylen Brown-level player in the draft I’d wait a year and sign him as a free agent. But I think he’s gonna sign a super max and we arent gonna have the chance to trade for him or sign him.
