if Harden came here, and Ime had our offense looking like the 20-21 BK Nets, I’d be all for it…the Nets were 7th in apg, 11th in pace, 12th in 3 point attempts, 4th in screening frequency on offense, 9th in dribble handoff frequency, 6th in cutting frequency…that’s a healthy mix despite having Harden, Kyrie, and KD, that Nets team had ball movement, played with pace, and ran some nice plays all led by James it was when Harden got with slow, monster usage Embiid that the offense was extremely slow and became just dump it down to the big and clear out…in Houston, we made a decision to play a certain way in order to compete with GS…offense wasn’t as slow and ISO heavy MDA’s 1st season with the team (hell, we were 3rd in apg that year)
Nash was a vibes guy, he had no offense my post was to highlight that having James Harden as your PG doesn’t automatically mean u are destined to being a slow paced team that runs unlimited ISO’s with guys just standing around
I'm in the "dont bring Harden" back camp, but I find this to be interesting.... Bring back MDA as an assistant to run the offense. Sign Harden Trade the #4 for CP Trade the #20 for Capela Trade away KPJ for whatever.... Sign FVV Here's your starting 5: CP3 Harden Green Bari Capela Bench: FVV Sengun Tari KMJ TyTy We'll be a top 4 team in the West guaranteed. Ground is 2nd round exit, ceiling is WCF. CP will get injured in the playoffs like always. Harden will disappear in big moments. But maybe FVV, Green, Bari, and Sengun can step up in their place and make up for lost production.
That’s too much for a 38 year old Paul. The 4th pick? You can probaly get a Siakam or a cam Johnson for that deal. As for Mike he obviously is only looking for a head coaching gig . He lives in Washington so I doubt he will uproot everything for an assistant coaching job
Whoever's available at #4 isn't gonna make/break the franchise, so yeah, let's do it. Rockets working on bringing Harden back. Let's get the most successful gang back together by any means necessary. CP, Harden, and Capela were 42-3 together in the 2017-2018 season and now there's some added youth in the mix. Heck, bring back Tucker and EGo for kicks and giggles to fill out the roster Make MDA the highest paid assistant in the NBA CP's partially guaranteed next season, and fully-non-guaranteed the following year - once his 30+ mil comes off the books, and grab another major FA. If CP becomes useless, FVV can fill the void. By then, maybe TyTy can be a competent backup. I may just try this out on 2K and sim the whole season just to see what happens
It does if that is what Harden wants and he gets his “basketball freedom”. I was all for a Harden reunion (for a 2 year guaranteed contract), but that quote really concerns me.
Is this just for dreaming? Because if not: We have $60m in cap space. To dump KPJ for no salary will cost a future pick, so then you're up to $75m. Harden is $45m. CP3 is $30m. That's it, you're done spending and you don't have a big man or a vet wing defender. No Capela, no FVV obviously. You can only make $2m-ish vet minimum signings at this point. FVV wants $20-$30m. Capela is $20m. Also, you gave up: #4 #20 Future pick $110m roughly in cap space for Harden, CP3, Capela and FVV. Three of these players play the same position. You're paying over $100m/season for the PG spot only. You have $40-$60m for all the rest of the rotation combined. What you gave up in picks and FA money is worth two superstars in their prime. Also after your trades we're at the second tax apron which means the team is handcuffed/restricted until it cuts salary. No upgrades. The NBA has designed it so that if you handcuff yourself, you better be sure you have everything you need to win a championship immediately. If your ceiling is WCF, then that's it. You're done. Never improving on that. You know why? Cause guess what: You're not making the Finals ever without someone who can guard wings. Who's guarding Tatum, Doncic, Butler, Lebrons of the world while being respectable on offense? No one, so just like the Cavs and Suns who tried to cheap out on that by overloading elsewhere your ass is getting bounced out of the playoffs early. If you slide Jabari over, then you are getting murdered at PF all the same. You would have to bench Green for Tari. So now you're benching Green and Sengun, making most of our 3 years of tanking pointless. We could've created cap space without tanking you see. You would also have to fire Stone for lying about needing to tank to contend, because the draft assets on this roster of yours are pointless. Most of the salaries you onboarded are locked into declining players whose salaries are increasing btw so guess how that's going to go. Not to mention you gave up the #4 pick for the expiring contract of CP3 so the 10+ years of benefits you were going to get out of the pick disappears into thin air in one season. Teams are thinking of WAIVING CP3's contract and you traded a #4 for him. Amazing. The worst part of all this is in 1 year you're going to discover NONE of the players you acquired are a top 2 player on the team and your top 2 players are going to need to be PAID. At that point you will have to once again pay in picks to dump salaries. You know what happens when teams get to that point? They rebuild.
I don't think Harden is coming back because I think Pringles is headed to Philly to rebuild that 2017 Rox team. Best team in the Western Conference & a hamstring away from a title IMHO Rox (2017): CP3 - Beard - Trev - Tuck - Flash - Clint - Luc - The Mayor (GG) - Ryno - Nene Sixers (2023): Beard (CP3 role with less defense) - Maxey (new Beard) - Harris - Tuck - Melton - Embiid (upgraded Clint) - Shake (re-signed) - House (he's no Mayor, but he is from Htown and shoots 3's) - Niang (if re-signed) - Reed / maybe Dedmon or Harrell I could even see the Sixers trading Korkmaz & Springer to Knicks to get Hartenstein. Sixers use the MTLE to acquire a 3rd vet (Porzingas? Dillon Brooks? Christian Wood? Levert? Oubre? Craig? PatBev? Uncle Jeff? Kevin Love?) tl;dr - Harden not coming b/c Sixers going to give Beard his contract + his coach + his freedom
Or you could say Embiid is a homeless version of Hakeem the Dream and all the others are just role players. A homeless version who mostly produces in the regular season.
Lol... agreed. it was not a serious attempt to rebuild in this manner. More of a sarcastic take. I have no interest in bringing Harden back, but those in favor seem to overlook that Harden shrinks in the biggest moments in the playoffs. However, they just want the kids to get some playoff experience. If it's just get to the playoffs, make it interesting and bring back the oldies.
@J.R. posted it as well (I think) I think it is a joke twitter account if you look at some of his other posts. He posted around the trade deadline and then went dark until two days ago. Plus it looks like he cites other people and is wrong a lot. Just my $.02
