Well, by hook or by crook, that adjustment will make a difference for the Lakers. With everyone in the NBA mediadel talking about it like the Lakers found gold... it reminds me of when the media was preemptively defending the Lakers's free throw advantage. They're speaking this series changing adjustment into existence and we, including Jokic and the Nuggets, have to play along and let it happen. Or it won't work.... Who knows. BTW, the Lakers and LeBron had a lot of those goofy gematria numbers going for them in G1 and lost. They still have the overarching narrative going for them, especially LeBron, so again, who the hell knows.
Man, Nikola Jokic is a 2-time back to back MVP, and the follow up MVP this year. Sengun, he is a nice prospect, I enjoy his passing, and I enjoy his passion for the game, but holy **** is he far far far far away from being Jokic. Jokic is special man, I don't know if Sengun has the ability to reach that sort of status. Jokic is bigger than Sengun which gives him the ability to bully people more and shoot over others. I pray he would be the future Jokic, but outside of the passing ability (which is probably where the comparison comes from), I really have a hard time believing Sengun is the one (and I am a fan of the guy).
Jokic's size is the difference. Sengun is shorter, less massive, not as strong, and he does not have the same wingspan. They are comparable with their vision, hands, feet,,and touch. Not sure about basketball IQ, but Sengun ain't no slouch there. A lot of these guys' ability is decided with their DNA, it is what it is.
Well…to DEN it ain't just a wire to wire victory, it's a game best showcasing the beauty of bball games right in front of all nba fans. I got tons of fun watching this, n only when i waa enjoying it, i start to understand how boring 'splash bros + dirty green' games are.
Jokic is a bball mastermind, iq-wise he's been pretty close to the word 'dominant' (ain't da kinda physically dominant like shaq)
I think Aaron Gordon will shoot more 3s in the next game as the Lakers will pack in the paint to stop Jokic.
I think Jokic was just seeing what the new defense was like, with Rui on him and AD lurking. Very interesting to see how Jokic processes this new information. He went 0-2 when he shot the ball while Rui was the primary defender - one shot was a jumper (fadeaway?) and one shot was him taking Rui off the dribble and taking a...push shot? Either way, I think Jokic was trying different things just to see how Rui, AD and the Lakers defense would react. Even though he went 0-2, Jokic never tried to force shots over Rui even though he had the size and height advantage. Game 2 is going to be bananas, in terms of adjustments.
I don't see the Nuggets losing at home. That home court advantage is too much Not saying they not good. . . but that thin air gives them more UMPH Rocket River
AD won't be having another 40pt game, and Jokic would have the adjustments when Rui guards him again.
Interesting stuff. In the 2nd graph, is that Clay Thompson near the very bottom of tier 9 (with his face occluded)? And what a terrible look for Trae Young.
It's not really that Rui is guarding him, it's just a double team. AD is coming over to help. It's less about what Jokic does and more about what his teammates do to make themselves available when AD comes over to help.
