From recent reports it appears as though Charlotte is going to draft Miller. Which will leave Scoot Henderson and Amen Thompson.

Additionally, since Portland already has Dame, I think they are opened to trading the pick. So, do Houston trade up to get Scoot or stay pat and draft Amen?

Scoot is 6'2 which means the only position he can play is PG. However, he plays it very well but how well will he be able to defend? Can he switch?

Amen is 6'7 which means he can play, as well as guard positions 1 - 3. He offers more versatility. He has good vision and insane athletic ability but his shot will take time.

Who will be the better fit and who will be better long term?

The answer is you 1,000% trade up for Scoot.

Which is exactly why you trade for pick swap with the hornets and don't take chances.

I agree. If... IF you think he is that player to pair with Jabari and Green. Then you go get him. The Clippers pick along with who do they like on the Rockets player wise?? Tate, Christopher, Martin, KPJ, Garuba, TyTy

I would rather keep Eason, Sengun and Nets picks/swaps for either to keep long term or for another big trade. Can some of those players above be traded for a 1st round pick to send along with the Clippers pick? You could take back some bad salary while sending those players for whatever pick(s) or players that Charlotte wants. It should be enough to move up if they do not in fact want a guard and rather have a forward.

If we can get Scoot we 100% should. Forget Wemby he won't be able to stay healthy, Scoot is the real 1st pick in this draft.

imo... its trade up for Scoot - or package the picks for a vet...

what is the cost associated with moving up to #2...

what vet could i conversely acquire for that cost...

comparing potential vs proven.... rookie pay scale vs vet...

and chose path A or path B...

    and hope u dont get...

maybe u draft a johnny Flynn... maybe u get a Ty Lawson... lol

I'd give up 4th, 20th, unprotected 2024 Nets plus more to get Scoot

That's exactly what I was thinking. I love Kmart, but trading him frees up time for Tari. Just for example.

That's too much imo. #4 and #20 should do. Or #4 plus KJ Martin should work. I guess it depends on the team they're working with.

If we trade the 2024 Nets pick without protection, and then they trade Bridges to Portland. They will be among the two or three worst teams in the league. Henderson or Miller will not save them from that.

Even with bridges, I am not entirely convinced that they will be that great next year. So you are essentially trading a pick that will be a top 10 lottery pick next year with potential to go high high to move up. Im not into that…. If we can put some thing like top six protection on that pick and then it rolls into being the 2026 pick with lighter protection or no protection than maybe.

Hornets are not going to give up a top 2 pick for a #20. You're not being objective, you have to give them an offer they can't/won't refuse. You seriously think another team can't offer a better package than that?

Portland knows the drop off from 3 to 4 is steep so they will be able to demand more than "fair" value for it.

Maybe in last year's draft #4 and #20 would've worked, but Scoot would've gone #1 last year and chances are in next year's draft as well.
Fortunately for us, he plays the same position as Ball (even though I think they could make it work). Rockets already need to consolidate some of their young talent who aren't getting the appropriate playing time to develop (as expected) so letting go of these 3 picks and turning it into 1 pick works out. The likelihood of Nets landing #1 next year is probably less than 5%.

Rockets should jump on the deal if that's what it takes to get Scoot imo. It makes sense from an asset management perspective, a fit perspective and from a talent/upside perspective.

You don't give them an offer they can't refuse, that's overpaying. You give them an offer they'll accept. Look at other trades to move up in the top of the draft and it normally doesn't take more than an additional pick.

2018: Luka Doncic (#3) for Trae Young (#5) and a protected 2019 1st round pick.
2017: Boston traded #1 to Philadelphia for #3 and 2019 1st round pick, pre-draft. Markelle Fultz and Jayson Tatum were later drafted, respectively.
2006: LaMarcus Aldridge (#2) for Tyrus Thomas (#4) and Victor Khryapa.

I'm sure other teams want the #2 or #3, but most don't have the #4 as a bargaining chip to begin with. Giving up three picks (one unprotected) to move up one spot or two is lunacy unless you're talking about Wembanyama.

Charlotte is for sale, they're probably going to draft Scoot.

    Fit is overrated.

Good post. I do think it'll take somewhere in between. I wouldn't start the offer with the 3 picks, but if that's what it takes I'd still do it
