I agree on Cam. He would be a good role player off the bench so no way I’m throwing big bucks at him. It has Poole written all over it. GS is desperate to un-load that contract after they jumped the gun on him. If were going to throw a crap ton at one of those type guys, I would prefer Reeves, but recognize that would be a crap shoot as well, but I think his defense translates no matter what.

Well as long as some rando on a Rockets board doesn't see it............lol....

One of these guys will break out:

Green, Bari, KPJ, Sengun.....and be a star, and probably 2 or maybe 3.

Amen is a year away to start, once he get his shooting up to par…..he will be a elite player. Watch him play against older guys last year when we went against the National Serbia Team….

I don't want Amen, would SETTLE for him if we can't trade the pick for a proven veteran.

Some people want to overlook what keeps people in the league the longest, shooting. That is THE MOST IMPORTANT skill to have in the NBA. If you are picking someone based on athleticism that's fools gold. All these guys are great athletes, obviously some better then others but what keeps people being put on the court is shooting. They don't have specialists for athleticism. They don't say, hey, you're really fast, go out there in crunch time and run as fast as possible. They put shooters out there. Y'all need to walk away from Amen.

    Amen, my brother. Amen.

(Okay, everyone else has been shying away from an obvious, weak joke. Except me.)

Trade the picks.....for WHAT lol. If we're picking 5 that's fine but you have one of Miller/Scoot/Amen at 4 and we want to trade it for a role player? Draft the best prospect and develop him correctly. Sign veterans in free agency and package a few of Christopher/KPj/Garuba/Tari/TyTy for another veteran.

You never pass up superstar or all star talent unless they're in their 30s.

I agree, to a certain extent.

Yes you have your guys like; Kyle Korver, Cam Johnson, Kevin Huerter, Max Strus, etc. that dominate the league when it comes to there spot up shooting ability.

But you guys really have to consider where we are in the rebuild process, yes, we have a TON of youth at this very moment and will potentially add some (maybe one or two) through this draft alone. We still need to find as many young athletic guys to help our guys in becoming a solid, young, athletic team with extremely high potential to become the best in the league.

For every one of those guys (shooters) I mentioned, you have your; Kawhi's, Draymond's, Giannis', and sh** even Lebron's that didn't arrive into the league as polished shooters but developed their shots through hard work and persistence.

You can't just turn down guys because they're no Klay Thompson's in the draft, when those guys are still coming out of college as only top 8 picks at pretty much the highest, with maybe the exception of Jimmer who was a bust himself.

We really just have to hope that any pure athletic guy we draft that has shooting deficiencies can continue to focus on that factor of his game and improve season-to-season.

About players becoming better shooters. People point to certain players who turn it around in their later career. What about those who haven't?

It's made to sound like an inveitability, but only took time to develop a 3ball, why not just look locally?

    This season: (highest to lowest)
    ---------------------------
Garuba 40.7% (only 0.8 attempt per game)
    KPJ 36.6%
    ---------------------------
    League average this year: 36.1%
    ---------------------------
    Gordon 34.7% (gone)
    Tari 34.3%
    Mathews 34.2% (gone)
    Green 33.8%
    Sengun 33.3%
    KJ 31.5%
    Jabari 30.7%
    Nix 28.6%
    Tate 28.3%
    Tyty 23.8%
    Christopher 23.6%
    Kaminsky 20.0%
    ------------------------
How many of these players can you honestly say will have a 3pt % that is at or better than above league average next season?

If the coaches haven't improved them now, can you confidently say next batch of coaches can for Amen ?

Some players do improve, but statically speaking is that a majority or a minority.

If they had drafted Mobley they would not have drafted Sengun. You can't always look at things in a vacuum.

I'm no shot doctor and nobody asked for my analysis but here it is anyway...

His free throw looks fine. To me, it's when he's trying to jump and shoot that it looks so broken. His base is all over the place and it leads to a wonky aim. I think him becoming a passable 3 point shooter starts with abandoning a jump shot and going for more of a set shot like Eric Gordon uses. Most grown men are strong enough to set shot from 25 feet, let alone pro athletes, let alone forces of nature like Amen Thompson. He's already 6'7" and even with the modest lift of a set shot he should have a high enough release that it won't be a problem. The exaggerated jump shot like Garrison Mathews does seems to be his problem, I'd venture an eye test opinion that most quality 3 point shooters aren't jumping more than 4-5" off the ground. I mean guys aren't really guarding his shot anyway, what's the use in that kind of jump for a 6'7" athlete?

The fact that Udoka keeps talking about spacing and defense makes me think that they'll target someone who can at least shoot a bit and play some defense, that's why I think Walker ultimately is the pick. Now sure, he only shot just under 35% from 3 last year, but he's a plus defender AND his 3 point shooting, if it translates, would be better than everyone but KPJ

Cam Whitmore could also make sense and obviously so could Taylor Hendricks.

IMO that should be the guys we're looking at.....with the advantage going to Walker due to his ties to Fertitta.

Or just realize the Rockets have prioritized tanking while those others teams weren’t.

Right, which is a different situation than those teams that drafted Mobley, Giddy, Jaylen Williams, etc.

Again, maybe you are right. But I’m going to be rational and watch how our guys look now that we aren’t trying to position ourselves at the bottom.

Don't draft anyone who can't shoot. Vet or kid doesn't matter. That's why i don't think they will draft Amen.

Elite defense also keeps people in the league for a long time.

He's played against JV competition. Even Nix can look like a defensive stud in that garbage league he played in.
