We've missed out on the top talent & the Thompson twins are 2 years away from being 5 years away .... and I've had enough of drafting projects that are 5 years away. Two guys I'd like to come away with are Jordan Hawkins and Dereck Lively. I think Hawkins is a lot closer to being NBA ready than any of the top prospects outside of Miller & Wembymama 4 is far too early to take Hawkins and Lively may not be there at 20. Two teams have 2 picks in the top 16 - Orlando & Utah. I'd probably call up Utah first and offer them 4 for 9 & 16. If they take that I have 9-16-20 and take Hawkins, Hood-Schifino and Lively with those picks. If Utah won't deal, I offer Orlando 4/20 for 6/11 and take Hawkins / Lively. Obviously, you'd have to clear the decks after either option - I'd decline the option on Nix and try to move Garuba / Tyty / Christopher to make playing time for the draft picks & whatever veterans are brought in via FA.
Hawkins is an atrocious defender. Like, makes KPJ look good level bad. His offense is promising but I don't think we can pick another guy who can't play on both ends. At least the Thompson twins can play defense. Lively would be good at 20 if he's available. Or a trade up.
Scanning YouTube and Chop Shop had what Harden wants this summer. Claim Harden does indeed want Max money- Chris Haines. (05/17/23) That's what I needed to see/hear. I'm off the Harden train until I see him give us the discount. __________________ On to plan C Trade Rockets In: Patrick Williams / Caruso x Bulls in: Tate / TyTy / Kenyon / Josh Christopher / #4 pick (rather give future pick and draft Jarace Walker or Cam Whitmore at #4) ________________ Free Agency Cam Johnson (RFA) ____________________ Roster KPj........................Caruso Green....................KPj /Caruso Patrick Williams...Cam Johnson Jabari.................Eason Sengun...............Garuba / Dereck Lively (#20) or back for Zach Edey (#38)
3 teamer Portland out: #3, Simons Portland in: Mikal, KJM Houston out: KJM, 2024 bkn 1st Houston in: #3 Brooklyn out: Mikal Brooklyn in: #4, 2024 1st back, Simons Ultimately, brooklyn and portlans dont need us. We would just be paying bkn to move up 1 spot. Also interesting thought, if brooklyn doesnt like simons we could take him into cap space. Would be selling brooklyn on flexibility and a freah start. Honestly just dont know what portland wants, because there isnt a lot out there. I wouldnt accept this for #3 but portland is in a weird spot.

Cam Johnson is miles better than Patrick Williams. They play the same position and you want them on the same team? Pass.
One of the 5-10 best defenders and one of the best rim protectors? That's a good haul for what they give up I think... I would rather do that than scoot. If Brandon Miller is there I would lean that way...
They both play SF and PF. I could link basketball-reference.com if you need help with that Jabari, Eason, Patrick Williams, Cam Johnson all would be interchangeable throughout the lineup. Whoever has the hot hand. lineups could be endless possibilities: 1) KPj, 2) Cam Johnson, 3) Patrick Williams, 4)Tari, 5) Jabari Caruso was considered the number 1 defender pound for pound at any position at the trade deadline. I posted the article at the time. Cam Johnson (40.4 from 3) and Patrick Williams (41.5 from 3) Added: Udoka- is going to push for defenders first. And many of you may not get it.....Rockets are not liked, as evidence by Wemby's response when the Rockets name came up. Many free agents feel the Rockets are a clown show and will avoid us like the plague. So stop sticking your noses in the air like we are some kind of special.
I wouldn't mind Kawhi but the 45 million is a bit too high. It's a contract dump, so he should cost KPJ and 20. He has experience with Udoka and if he's bought in has value. Ultimately that salary just eliminates any cap flexibility... probably too much to take on...
I'd do it. Williams is Mikal Bridges light... might be better than anything at 4... Main downside for him is injuries...
LA Clippers is a team that I would pay attention to. If Ty Lue leaves for Phoenix I would call to inquire about Khawi.
I had something similar but don't see Simons going anywhere. He's been efficient and was extended. More likely Sharpe is moved as more of an unknown...
Yes I looked that up. 3 seasons....his sophomore year was something like 19 games.....but rookie and this past year were both over 70 games. Like the thought process a lot but not Hawkins. Wallace is our answer in my opinion. Taking care of the ball and defense would transform us quickly. We could add some of the players into the mix as well to up the trade value. BUT keep Garuba he is like lighting in a bottle. Good things organically happening on the court with his playing time.
