I'd keep him but end the KPJ starting PG experiment. I don't mind him getting some PG minutes, but not as a starter. The dude can be a good basketball player in the right role.

KPJ signed an unusual extension, it would be a bad look to trade him so soon.

People keep saying Jalen and Jabari will play better now that Udoka is here. Well the same can easily be said for KPJ who is a superior player. He's just being asked to do something he is not great at. It's like asking Cuttino Mobley or Eric Gordon to run the offense 30+ minutes per night then blaming them for not succeeding.

Both Jalen and Jabari ... Jalen who is statistically one of the most inefficient players on BOTH sides of the court ... And Jabari who was one of the worst shooting high draft picks in NBA history.

KPJ is not that good either which explains the whole worst team for 3 season thing I guess ...

I don't see why he can't be as good as DLo which is an important spark for the Lakers even if inconsistent. Obviously we need our #1 and #2 first.

    Isn't this all old news?

Maybe he sticks around. I don't mind him staying if it's off the bench. Starting at the 3, I'm iffy on. Probably better than him starting at point guard, but he's too short and he's not exactly making up for by being extra-pesky on defense. If we do pick Amen, maybe it's at least easier to start KPJ at the 3 though, since Amen has a 7 foot wingspan and can guard 1-3. Maybe Jalen guards the 1, KPJ the 2, and Amen the 3?

I hope he can be a plus contributor for the Rockets, but I don’t put too much stock in this meaning anything.

even if the Rockets plan on trading him, it would be stupid to kill any trade value, and ruin any hope of a good relationship if a trade doesn’t happen by making that publicly known in an introductory press conference with KPJ in attendance.

New coaches who are asked about one of their new players never say they want to trade him, or that they have no plans to play him. Especially not in an introductory press conference. Even players like Ben Simmons don’t have their coach saying they want him gone in press conferences.

Yeah Apache said KPj only made about $3M last season....
and for him to give up his bonus money; he's not going
anywhere until trading deadline, at least.

When you say superior do you mean a more fleshed out player? Or do you actually believe that KPj is going to be a better player overall for their whole careers than Jabari and Jalen Green...?

With how KPJ's contract is structured, he really has to be on his best behavior this year and buy in. His full $15.8M is guaranteed for this year, but he has only $3M guaranteed for 2024-2025 until the trade deadline, and only $6M guaranteed up until June 30th.

The Rockets are going to have to decide on February 28th 2024 if they would be willing to sign KPJ to a 3-year $47.5M contract with a team option. If he's not worth that to them, then they realistically need to move him as a pseudo-expiring contract to another team.

I feel like Udoka is either going to bring out the best in him, or completely clash and cause a huge blowup. I so badly want to believe in KPJ's redemption; about how all it took was the right coach to get his career turned around. His story to this point is the kind of thing that turns him into a beloved local legend if the Rockets manage to win; if he gets cut to save money, he'll also be the the emblematic face of this low period in Rockets history for all the wrong reasons.
