Also - watching some of the Wemby interviews, and media stuff around him, I don't think he knows much of anything about Houston. He was probably just told that Houston would be a bad fit because: -They just drafted a front court for their future -Harden is likely coming back, and he will make you a pick and roll only big -They've been the worst team in the league 3 years (what he doesn't know is it was in order to get him) -It's really hot -The ESPN guys I see on TV seem to not like the Rockets for some reason This guy is 19 years old, and from France. He doesn't know anything about Houston. He's got mooching agents, and business people around him all day telling him this and that. I would take this with a grain of salt. However, we ABSOLUTELY should put in our pocket to make it meme worthy when things maybe don't work out on the future. I'm not above trolling the Spurs and their stupid fans.
I bet the guy knows plenty. you don't spend YEARS getting hyped as the best NBA prospect in history without doing some homework on the NBA
The NBA yes. The city of Houston Texas... no. I don't think the kid knows a damn thing about Houston other than its hot, and we have cows.
Ya but it seems like there is this cut off point at around 7'4" where players get a lot more injury prone. There seems to be some sort of asymptotic plateau of viability in terms of health at that height. Plenty of 7fters with long careers.
Facts, this thread is a great example of how people can be easily emotionally manipulated. There's no verification that this all happened in real time, nor that it was even related to the Rockets, but a bunch of our fans are super in their feelings about the perceived slight. Hilarious, though sad. We'll be fine. One player has never won anything by himself and I feel our team is a lot closer to breaking through than most. We also have the option to trade the pick if we want. Relax. There were a lot of these same conversations about the Rockets alleged culture from 2009-2012 right up until we got James Harden and our fortunes changed quickly.
Because of the reasons I just said. What his agent and basketball people are telling him is all about... basketball and NBA reasons. However I would make the argument that the reasons that NBA players in the past have loved to play and live in Houston have very little to do with the prestige and professionalism of the Houston Rockets organization. These kids don't know about Moses Malone, or even much about Hakeem. The only thing a 19 year old is going to think about basketball and the culture of the Rockets is probably around James Harden.... who is one of the most hated NBA stars in the media, and players in most recent years. A big part of what Wemby is thinking about when he thinks of the city of Houston is James Harden. Which is a problem for us recruiting 19 year old phenoms from France. The fact is though that NBA players, when they actually know Houston, actually really love living and playing here. Is Wemby going to hate San Antonio... let's just say it's a heck of alot different than Paris. It's more like Paris, Texas than Paris France.
Windy or somebody reported he was ok with (loser franchise not named) because it had a nonstop to Paris. IAH & Detroit both have one. But anyway, who gives a ****, we didn't pray enough
I guess Wemby doesn’t want to win, just fire up **** tons of field goal attempts. HTown is on its way back up!
Wemby might end up injured all the time, but he looks different to me than Chet--more flexible, which is helpful in avoiding injuries from awkward landings, rwists or falls.
