If you don't have the gumption to do a 100% no food fast, I would recommend doing a modified fast where you eat only one type of food (usually a fruit) throughout the entire fasting period. Apple fasts are one of the most popular types of modified fasts (ie: eat only apples).

Watermelon is a good choice, and will probably be even more effective than apples since watermelon is like 98% water. The main ideas behind the one fruit fast are:

    1. It keeps things simple. By only having to digest one type of food, your body's sytems become free to divert their energies toward attacking mucus and cleaning out toxins.

    2. The natural sugar in the fruit will give you energy so you won't feel quite as hungry or sluggish as you would during a complete fast.

    Fasting is simple.

All it takes is will power.

No food fast is where its at.

I remember a couple of times me and my friend were studying for a test and when the sun had set, she said, "OK time for breakfast" and she made some breakfast. Later on in the night, she got hungry again and so we grabbed "lunch" at Denny's. Other nights, she would eat a big ass meal when the sun set, and then was in bed by 10, then she'd wake up early as crap and eat a huge meal that would tide her over pretty much the rest of the day. I would never have such discipline.

The theory is that, in the absence of food, the body's systems are free to attack the garbage within the body (mucus, toxins, undigested food residue, unprocessed waste, etc..). While this is going on, the person generally feels like total crap, but once all of the toxins are passed out of the body and the waste destroyed, they will supposedly attain a new level of health.

Professor Arnold Ehret (1866-1922) had a lot to say on the topic. He was a bit of a crackpot, but is probably still the most recognized expert on fasting. Do a search.

That actually doesn't sound like discipline at all. Looks like a way to get around fasting, to be honest. I could do that easy. You're eating the same amount of food, just at different times.

That's what I thought --- shouldn't you keep your exact schedule during the fasting period?

Well, if you couldn't even make it past the first day, you may as well forget about it.
