I don’t get this either. I understand you telling ppl to pump the breaks on comparing him to Mahomes and Rodgers. So I’ll do one better… what, physically, could Tom Brady do?

you don’t have to be Cam Newton and Josh Allen athletes in order to succeed. You need to be able to throw the ball with pin point accuracy, read and dissect defenses, and throw with anticipation. Stroud does 2 of those really well, we will see on the third, and we will see under pressure. But not being able to sprint down the field really isn’t a big deal. He can throw it 65 yards way more accurately than Levis or AR can throw it 80.. and guess what, those throws happen like twice a year and are usually hail Mary’s at the end of a half/game. But honestly, aside from I guess speed and juking defenders, Stroud is an athlete and a better QB.
How high is Lamar Jackson’s ceiling? Lol.

First, it remains to be seen if he can maintain accuracy and process in the NFL without a massive talent advantage.
Second, I’m not the one claiming Stroud to be Mahomes or Rodgers. They have better QB skills than Stroud………and are athletes in the new age mold.

Stop bringing up all time greats and comparing Stroud to them.
Goff/Cousins/Jameis with a long shot to be similar to Burrow. Depends on how bad his performance under pressure truly is.

Bringing up Brady was a joke because you were mad at ppl saying Mahomes and Rodgers.. cmon. And I was just showing that being a “athlete” isn’t so important that you can’t still be a good qb, for instance the GOAT wasn’t.. but anyways, Why do you get to bring up Josh Allen for Levis then?

I love how competitive this guy is. Shows zero fear of being shown up by a highschool kid in a competition. This is the stuff you want to see.

Stop engaging this guy. He is a clown.

Csmoak is pissing on all the Stroud hype when the Texans for the first time in years have a reason to be optimistic.

That is called being a miserable ****.

Do whatever you want, I’m not pissing on anything. Just a dose of reality.
    Optimism is great.
    Outright fantasy is not

Stroud is going to make Mahomes look like Davis Mills. Can't wait.

I just don’t see how it’s outright fantasy to think that the consensus top 2 qb in the draft will be comparable to some great QBs, but saying the guy that fell to the second round can be as good as the current 2nd best qb in the league is somehow not fantasy or more realistic.

I don’t think anyone is inherently upset with your skepticism on stroud, I share some of it and am just choosing to be optimistic. It’s your praise of Levis in the same breath that is rubbing ppl the wrong way. And the fact that the only thing that fits your narrative of one over the other is athleticism and this is regarding arguably one of the positions that needs the lowest amount of athleticism (aside from Oline).

is Matt stafford running away from people?
Brady, rivers, Foles all ran over 5 sec 40.
    Matt Ryan, Eli manning, 4.9
Drew Brees, Matt stafford, Mahomes 4.8
    Josh Allen, Big Ben, 4.75
    Rodgers 4.7

from what I can find, looks like around 4.74 (unofficial) for stroud. Levis also didn’t run the 40 but on the same site I see unofficial (4.72)

I just don’t see why you are so hung up on this athleticism, levis is barely faster, took more sacks (escapability) and both of them are in the Brees/Mahomes/Allen/Big Ben/manning range. But I’m sure your eye test and the Ohio state receivers somehow give the edge to Levis…

This is a very good assessment in my mind, and as a lifelong Texans fan, this would put him in VERY good company. Most Texans fans believe that our best team on paper, was the team that lost to Baltimore in the divisional round. Most believe had Schaub played, we would've won that game.... If we could get that same level of QB play with a tad more athleticism, I'd be perfectly fine. (some will argue, that's not what you want from the #2 overall pick, but I still think that's more than acceptable QB play)

Give me 12yrs of pro bowl /fringe all-pro level qb play and I’m taking it everyday. I heard an analyst before the draft gave him a comparison to Matt Ryan. His game looks designed for the kubiak/shanahan system.

Schaub was a good QB. I just feel like CJ has more potential. Schauby had a lot of drives stall due to inability to evade the rush.

Wish he never got hurt. Pretty certain the Texans would have gotten a ring.

I don’t know why you’re hung up with my opinion on Stroud.
Levis ran a 4.6 coming into college. Stroud is not a 4.7 guy at all, that’s evident on tape. Those are guesses from that site.
Top end speed doesn’t matter anyway, Stroud is not explosive in any direction.
Matt Ryan, a young Matt Ryan I could see for Stroud.
And being an overhyped Ohio St product in an average draft class doesn’t mean much, there are numerous prospects from big schools that get drafted on hype.

And whether you like it or not, Levis is very accurate, extremely smart and very athletic. That’s the upside.

    God you’re delusional.
Stroud was one of the worst, the absolute worst in differential under pressure.
    He’s not evading much.

In reality, people need to stop reacting to your fantasy land.
Let the kid be who he is or you’re going to be set up for disappointment
