I agree there is no team option, either he gets that year or he does not. When you are turning 37 at the end of that contract, you would want it to be spelled out crystal clearly. Team option means theatrics and no trust.
Yeah. I was just dreaming a bit. I think it will take a 4 year max deal to get him, and, I would be out on that.
Money always matters… period. We are far more desperate for Harden than Harden is for us, especially if we don’t land Wemby or Scoot.
We fans are, but I don’t know about the organization. I think they will definitely kick the tires if they don’t get Scoot. If they get Wemby then they probably will offer him the 4 year max. If they don’t get one of those 2 guys, they will try and get him on a home town discount, but won’t destroy their flexibility. I will say, I think, he ends up either in Philly or here.
if the Rockets weren’t desperate for James Harden, we wouldn’t be hearing so much about how they’ve been telling other organizations that they fully believe that they are a serious destination for him it’s clear he is our main free agent target, and the Rockets aren’t hiding it
What teams have the cap space for that? There are no contenders that can free up that kind of room. It's pretty much just Philly versus Houston for Harden's services unless you think he's going to San Antonio or some outlandish scenario like that.
I agree with you Catch-n-Shoot 3's (22/23 reg season) James Harden: 41.5 (3P%)....1.8 (3PA) Cam Johnson: 41.5 (3P%).....5.3 (3PA) KPj................. : 43.5 (3P%).....1.9 (3PA) Jalen Green... : 35.1 (3P%).....3.2 (3PA) Mikal Bridges : 38.8 (3P%).....4.4 (3PA) Jaylen Brown : 33.4 (3P%)....4.4 (3PA) https://www.nba.com/stats/players/catch-shoot?SeasonType=Regular+Season For reference: Tatum : 40.5 (3P%)............4.2 (3PA) I'm guessing Ime Udoka- can possibly project Harden or KPj acting as Tatum. Possibly both sharing that role. Actually heard a pundit make that claim on a podcast that Ime wants the lead facilitator to pass immediately and then cut through the lane.....setting up for corner 3
the Miami Heat acquired Jimmy Butler in free agency back in 2019 while being over the luxury tax line let’s not act like Harden has just Philly/Houston or a trash team with max space like San Antonio as his only options in free agency
There are zero rumors about any other teams wanting to trade for him or him wanting to play for any other teams, though. I'm not saying it's totally impossible, I just think it seems very, very likely he'll end up either staying where he is or coming back to Houston.
there were zero rumors of CP3 and Houston until after free agency started lack of rumors doesn’t equate to lack of interest…I’m sure Philly and Houston are his clear top 2 choices, but if y’all think other good teams wouldn’t be interested in acquiring him/paying him or he wouldn’t be interested in going to those places, then that seems kinda crazy to me Harden has many options in FA…it isn’t just Philly, Houston, or a team that already has max space like San Antonio Harden has Philly, leave to Houston and sign there via cap space, or orchestrate a S&T with a different team or even opt-in and trade with a different team then extend there a few months later once eligible
Miami and the LA teams are supposedly all interested in bringing him in. It might be likely he ends up in Philly or Houston, but it has nothing to do with him not being wanted by contending teams.
Don’t think Phoenix will be, but agree with the rest. Miami is a real dark horse. I think it is Philly, Houston, Miami in that order.
IDK. I think Philly is more desperate for Harden than we do. They need to win now or they may lose Embiid and go into rebuild. We are rebuilding, not in a hurry to get an over the hill star.
There's so much to still be determined for James this season, and those results will obviously have a huge impact on his decision for next year. Everything else is just chatter at this point.
The Lakers can certainly try to acquire him with LeBron and Davis. Miami is a real dark horse for sure.
