The thing about Jaylen Brown is that he is well above average on both sides of the ball and can guard 1-4 and even a bit of 5 effectively. That being said, he can’t be your primary creator OR even scorer in my opinion.
Some of these don't belong for sure. Haliburton, Towns, Randle, DeRozan, Markkannen, Bam, Ingram wouldn't be chosen over Jaylen Brown. You could also argue that some of these players that were top 20 are now old/injured and have fallen off. If you were going to include some of these guys, you should have thrown in Sabonis, PG, and LaMelo while you were at it.
Look, we could argue about specific player rankings all day. Towns for example, down season, but in recent years he has been like a 25 and 11 guy, how much do you react to one season that wasn't as good (but was still excellent)? Same story from the opposite end with Markkanen, he was 26 and 9 this year with a ridiculous .640 TS%, for me his season was definitely better than Brown's, but it's the first time he's done it, is it sustainable? We can go on and on with this kind of stuff. There's arguments on both sides. I don't have a firm ranking for Brown, but I definitely have him in the back end of this group. I could see him as high as 21 or as low as 30 in the league. He is not a top 20 guy for me, though, and that's following on a career season right smack in the middle of his prime years.
Anthony Grango a Philadelphia sports radio host on the odd couple podcast said Harden willing to take slightly less to go back to Houston because he wants to be closer to his family. It’s about family reasons only if he goes back to Houston. I think things are falling into place
He was raised in or around Compton which isn't a good neighborhood but I would guess with his money some of his family still are in the Cali area. Of course Houston has served as a secondary and even possibly a primary home when he was here. (probably why he was into the hip hop scene) https://www.essentiallysports.com/n...n-try-to-focus-on-the-positive-and-stay-away/
His mother got him out of there I believe after his freshman year of high school and moved him to a nicer area, which is why he graduated from Artesia HS. His mom seemed to have worked very hard to be able to get him in the right position to succeed. His freshman year he was at the same high school as Nipsey, I believe Nipsey was a couple of years older than him, but they were there at the same time Harden as a Freshman, Nipsey a Junior.
Thanks for the info but it is not the best timing for the team apart from what he would bring passing to the shooters. Udoka will be trying to implement a rigorous defensive system, while I think Harden has improved on that end, you just have too many young players not being great at that end. It would definitely take more than 1 or 2 years for the defense to work its kinks out. I think it is also too much work to do on multiple fronts, draft, FA, trades, I think this would also be a factor in trying to establish a balance and first n foremost, Stability. Well, it can't get much worse than those last 3 years. It does not matter to me as a fan, they could be mediocre or bad on Defense, I do not have high expectations. I know Tilman and Stone would try to generate fanfare and noise with their offseason signings and splashes but I am not going to fall for that.
Well apparently according to Marc Stein Ima is on board with getting harden who he coached as the nets head defensive coach in 2021.. He has coached him before
Just imagine if things do not work out, cutting someone like KPJ would not be a biggie, not a thing, his contract is not guaranteed throughout all the years. But trying to get rid of old Harden would not be a good look regardless of what happens. Because of all the stuff that went down and his ties to the town, I mean, eventually people will forget and forgive. There is no exit plan for the exit man. It would also put Harden in a tight spot, are you going to pick another contender at 36 or try coaching....and think about retirement....and I would think retirement would be on the menu in that future.
Harden is five time the player porter junior is. Plus no one is expecting the Rockets to win a ring in Harden/Wemby/Green first or second year for things to go wrong. The key to Hardens job is to help the transition and get them into the playoffs so they these get some post season experience. Hopefully in the last few years of the contract Green and Wemby are experienced and good enough to take over and make the Rockets contender
Too much riding for Victor and health and Embiid was DNP in his first 2 years. Dude, I understand from your fans' perspective but it is not all about the fans. Dude has to live with dignity and some sort of ending to his so called legacy which would be all but guaranteed playing on a possible non contender.
Harden is not stupid . He isn’t coming back thinking this team will be automatically the best team in the league. If he chooses to comeback he is smart enough to know it’s a process
I have said my peach about Harden coming back. In saying that I would rather sign Harden to a 10 year deal than watch another season of KPJ starting at guard. No f'ing thanks
