    This is a tough one for me. You can't really copyright a chord progression. There are only so many combinations, especially in pop music. I, III, IV, V seems pretty common. I don't think Marvin Gaye invented it.

    On the other hand, those verses sound EXACTLY alike. But the choruses sound nothing like each other.

    Like I said.....to tough for me. I'll let the Berklee musicologists figure this one out. Or Rick Beato. I like his idea of the Gaye estate getting a portion, since it seems like Sheeran only stole the verses and seems to have made up his own chorus.

    He's just got to realize the song before Taylor Swift takes the idea. ;)
