The guy on Reddit who said his company put in a bid for the building of the project had said the location on the plans he saw was at 610 & I-10 (7310 Old Katy Rd, Houston, TX 77024) which would put it next to the Landry's distribution center, I guess. But that was like 8 or 9 months ago he mentioned it, and he said his company pulled out of the bidding since they wouldn't be able to make any money on it. No telling if something caused that to change. The Northwest Transit Center would be across the freeway from that location. You know, in case the players want to ride the Metro to practice. lol. :D

Not sure where the current players are living but I know in the past most Houston star athletes all live out towards Sugarland etc. It might not attract stars to come to Houston (every team now has a good facility nowadays) but it will certainly make the players happier to not have to drive all the way into downtown for workouts, and practice.

Also I doubt Tillman is spending a penny of his own money on this. I’ll be interested to see how involved the city is with this build.

What hasn’t been leaked yet is that this talent he’s trying to attract is for the Cougars, and this will actually be another Tilman-funded practice facility for the University of Houston.

Tilman feels it is extremely important for U of H to have at least two best-in-class practice facilities because they are trying to “win basketball games” unlike the Rockets.

Putting it in the Galleria so the players can walk right over to the club after practice?

At least he put in 70M, you arent impressed with him but you can't even support the site.

Personally I hate it when others belittle good acts like these. Fans been complaining the Rox fscility is so small when Tillman finally fixes the problem the comeback is it took him too long? Les Alexander had the team for decades never made a larger facility but you expect Tilman to pony up the first year he bought the team? Lmao.

How nice does it need to be? The court is the same no matter where it lays. Three full courts with a few half courts is more than enough room. The location needs to be near their airport or the Toyota center. No reason to over think this. This should never have gotten this out dated because it’s more than fixable.

Just a reminder that this was Les Alexander's practice facility that Tilman is dumping because it sucked ass just like Les as an owner. Houston has a basketball team again and not China....

I know Jalen and Christopher live in the Montrose area but I’m not sure if the rest.

Young dudes these days usually don't want to live in these boring-ass suburbs, they want to be where the action is.

This use to be a talking point between me and a friend of mine. We never understood why more players don’t live In the city in some of these “it” neighborhoods. I kinda understand years ago in the 90s and early 00s but the inner loop has come a long way especially with these high rises that offer penthouse suites. My guess has always been that they use the same real estate agents that guide them towards the burbs— especially the players that are rookies or just new in general.

One would think they would have an appointment near the airport the team uses. Then their investments can be anywhere, maybe not even in the United States. They are young why buy in Houston when Stone can just trade them at any moment. If they have there own family that is different. Hopefully some of them own or have interest in real estate around the country.

I don't have a problem with that because winning should come at all basketball levels and not just the highest professional ones.

Closer to Westchase IIRC. A few miles up Westheimer from the Galleria area.

That was back in the day when they had families and before the city really built up. Most players lived in condos downtown, museum district, Montrose, Uptown/Galleria, or some house in a nice neighborhood on the western sides of the Loop + Memorial area. Young players like Jalen and Jabari aren't driving in from Sugar Land or Katy like Tmac and Yao

He didn't put in 70m, the Rockets org did, he approved it.

The club makes money - and it can be directed any way Tillman likes including his pockets.....but kudos to him for saying yes to that.....and it does increase the valuation of the club.

This is good. I'm a Tilman skeptic, but open to evidence that he'll do what's necessary to win. This is some evidence.
