I think we're wasting a lot of time creating new posts from scratch every time we like a speech by a convention speaker. We have one more night of the Democratic convention, and then the Republican convention in a few weeks, so I thought I would save everyone some time and effort and produce a template that will allow the poster to laud a candidate's speech without having to think about it-- apropos for political conventions.

Wow, (speaker) really did a great job last night at the (Democratic, Republican) convention! Very moving speech, really well-delivered and without being overly partisan or negative. I really thought (candidate's) point on (9/11, foreign policy, health care, taxes, Social Security, partisan politics, racism, weather, bowling shoes) was brilliantly stated. (He/she) is a fantastic speaker, I wasn't bored at all and I thought this was a real speech from the heart, not something canned.

I'm not a (member of the party holding their convention) and I haven't made up my mind who to vote for yet, but after last night, I'm leaning towards voting for (Kerry, Bush). I mean, I have some concerns about (Kerry, Bush)'s policies on (pre-emption, NAFTA, the environment, the space program, celebrity poker), but I really thought (speaker) addressed those in an even-handed and tough-but-fair manner. It was great.

I almost had tears in my eyes when (he/she) mentioned (hackneyed political-convention sob story about overcoming adversity, usually related to someone in the audience)-- it's so true! I could really relate that to what he was saying about (tariffs, Head Start, offshoring, balloon accidents) and I definitely think (Kerry, Bush) is more qualified to help people like this.

Can we save this template and alter it for use after the NFL season begins to describe on-field exploits?

David Carr was just awesome yesterday!

I know that you right-wing nutjobs don't have much of anything to say, so perhaps your template will come in handy in five weeks. The Democrats - the party of the nation - span a great breadth of the population, so the speeches given by Clinton and Sharpton, Kucinich and the Kerry daughters by Edwards and the candidates' wives - they each have something unique to say, and I think that each speech deserves its own evaluation.

You RWN of course wish to belittle every utterance that doesn't emanate from the country club or the gun club, but don't expect the rest of the country to play along.

Sorry to have asked you RWNs to reflect a bit, even rhetorically, and I'm doubly sorry to have assailed your ineffectual figurehead to a degree that has plainly launched every Texas neck into an existential crises. That sort of thing can be dangerous in a heavily armed populace.

You make fun, but I thought there were many good points about bowling shoes made at the convention.
