Practice facility is good. Spending money on a good coach is good. My biggest gripe with him was we would shed rotation guys/give up on guys (thinking Ennis/Hartenstein) to duck the luxury tax who could have helped us in the playoffs. Hopefully that doesn't happen again next time we have a contending team.
dude took a perennial contender - and reduced it to a bottom dweller... show me some results before having him taking a bow... lol
That team with Harden and Westbrook were on their last legs. They weren't contender status anymore with that roster construction. They were a level above where teams like the Knicks or Raptors are. That's begging for long term mediocracy. We traded Harden at his peak value. That team wasn't going anywhere beyond the second round with aging stars and role players.
The summer of melo was the start of the disaster immediately following the 65+ win season along with all the other shitty ass transactions that year. The summer of westbrick put it in overdrive and they stopped being an actual contender once that historically terrible acquisition was made. The rest is just history and consequences of those idiotic years taking over as owner. gtfoh with crow. No actual results in the last 6 year warrants any of it. what a stupid thread
Call it like it is. Perpetual disappointment in the playoffs. 2018 was our best shot and CP3's injury sealed the deal. It was time to punt.
I don’t feel the need to eat crow just because the owner is finally investing to build a contender. That should be the expectation if someone is rich enough to buy a sports franchise.
...that may be true but we also haven't been going anywhere for 3 years+ now. At this point we are only going somewhere because we literally couldn't get any worse over the last 3 years - there is ONLY up to go. Not going to eat crow for a splashy coach signing(who by the way is the only coach to have ever been fired from his previous team after taking them to a title) until we see some results.
In the past three years the team has gotten younger and younger replacing veteran playing time with under 21 aged players. You aren't going to improve record wise with that. I also don't view the rebuild starting when Harden got traded. The rebuild started when we got our first draft picks the following seasons.
i am not a Blames Hard-on fan... but that was a sh*t show of an ending to that run... i think hard-ons a sob... we MAY see a decent return (see how those picks end up...) but the org was def operating from a position of weakness when dealing him... from trading for Westbrook, to trading CC and going small ball and all the crap around it, to trading WB, to fat suits, covid violations and 'not good enough' and through Silas...... it's been a sh*t show... i'm optimistic... even a blond squirrel finds a nut on occasion... and we can all continue to pray for Victor... but i aint givin nobody props for a 'masterfully executed plan' - lmao...
Flipping to pro Tillman, he has stuck to the plan, invested in the team and we are going to have a short rebuild. Yep, dude is doing it right. DD
I think he sucked at first, got pummeled when he traded CP3 for Westbrick - learned his lesson and stuck to the plan in the rebuild. DD
I was thinking the same thing. Dude needs a job and after what he did is probably willing to be a bit of a b**** to get back in the door. At least, until he's proven he can remake his past success.
Meh, I'll wait to see what happens. I'm not eating crow for Cal either just because he finally got rid of Easterby and hired Demeco.
There are a few teams doing it right in the NBA ..... OKC at the forefront, Pacers seem to be good, Orlando needs a couple of pieces..... I am modest enough to admit that the Rockets are improving but nothing has been finished yet. I do not know what is going on in Toronto but after the championship they just did not get things done.
