Yes, i mean exactly like like soon to be 1st Team All Defense Evan Mobley who just finished third in DPOY voting, or Scottie Barnes whose 2 way play won him ROY, or like Herb Jones who nearly beat out Green for 1st team all Rookie as a defensive specialist, or his teammate Jose Alvarado, another such player, or yet another all rookie team defensive specialist in Ayo Dosonumu

Do you need any more examples? Do you need me to do the 2022 draft? Ok Walker Kessler...etc

I'd think at some point the problem would be Sengun. 2 different coaches and the same issues? The defensive breakdowns & on court pouting are his fault not the organization's

Besides, what big market team would play Sengun big minutes? Lol

What same issues? Do you think KPJ will get significant minutes under any decent coach? Do you think opps guards bombard Rox as they were doing in coachless days?

Big markets? Do you want me teach you from the UK. Go to the nearest library if you can't Google it. Ask help to local librarians.

Rockets was the worst team of the last 3 years. The stat was 0.250. If anyone makes Rox this year 31-51 team, 0.375, 50 % increase, do we have to consider that person a success?

    I don't think so.

I did not say Udoka is a bad coach, supported him against GSW and witnessed his lack of handling in FC. The new guy managed the team to better regular season percentage.

Udoka improved the team from 0.500 to 0.622 but the percentage was 0.667 in 2019-20 and 0.695 this year, both better than Udoka's 0.622.

Picking 0.500 is misleading. Again, I am not saying Udoka is bad HC, but we don't know yet whether the team was ready or Ime did a significant job. We will see in Houston.

Seems like the Sengun loons have already turned on our coach....6 hours after the introductory press conference.

Depending on the player personnel. You cannot win with just talented young players who do not mesh well together even if your name is Udoka.

I mean yes to Harden for the next 2 years but No to Harden for the longer future of course beyond the 2 years if he does not sign with Philly.
I bet Harden is getting injured as well, his entire career was kind of devoid of big injuries, that does not really happen too often.

I do feel Houston has lottery luck but not everything will go one way, balance of the bball multiverse.

It seems that some Rox fans think NBA was played only one year, 2021-22, forgetting basic facts.

It seems that we might lose 8 to 9 D list members when KPJ kicked out from the team. How we will survive without 9 delusional posters? We will live, experience and learn.

I watched the presser 3X but I'll entertain you this time.

    [Taken from your clip]
Udoka: "...we start with our guys we have first and howe can improve them. But the cap space we mentioned we'd like to add some veteran pieces there, shooting is at a premium and an area we struggled this year so we want to improve that. And then some contrasting pieces to what we already have. Alperen does some things really well but we'd like to add some different types of bigs, shooting on the wings..."

So apparently "we'd like to add some different types of bigs" means "Sengun lack of defense is a major problem" ???
Got it! SMH It's Day One under the new coach so how about we see what he does with the current roster instead of putting words in peoples mouths and jumping to off based/early conclusions.

And yes Sengun needs to get better defensively. I simply called out the thread title and am ashamed I fell for the click bait. Moving on...

Tell you what, if Udoka knows Sengun lacks defense.

I'm downright giddy then since he'll know KPJ is downright atrocious on that side of the ball. Get him off the team hoss.

There are folks who believe that a new coach would announce that he has a problem with the center’s defense(but nobody else’s on the team) on his introduction press conference? Lol! Oh they happen to be the same posters as anti Sengun posters. What a coincidence!

There’s always stuff to work on as a player. What does “translate” mean to you? Metrics are never the end all be all especially for advanced metrics like def rating which counts stops as ending opponents possession while taking team defense into account. Metrics don’t account for cutting off a player or re-routing a player making him pass the ball off etc.

Eye test says he plays decent perimeter defense. He Challenges 3 pt and mid range shot as opponents only shot 37% from 15-19 ft. (Mobley allowed 42% & Banchero 44% mid range shots)

He got almost a block a game and teams only shot 47% against him in the paint. (Jarrett Allen allowed 45% in the paint.)

He also plays good help defense from the wings or corners jumping out on guards driving or bigs in the paint.

There's no need to overreact. We will know what Udoka actually means by the beginning of the next season. I actually think this is good for Sengun. Think about it, if he thinks Sengun's defensive woes can't be fixed, why would he lower Alp's trade value during his first press conference? Have you ever heard Pop badmouthing about Murray before trading him away? In reality, no coach will give up a high IQ passing big man without taking a good look at it, and Udoka is a good coach and he also admitted he only watched maybe 10 games or so before the conference. We have been watching the NBA many years. In the morning a coach said that player was great, then the team shipped away that player in the afternoon. Also, if I remember correctly, Alp was probably the first person or third person the coach mentioned. If the coach thinks Alp was a nobody, why would he mentioned about him? The question wasn't about Alp. If I would place my bet, I think Alp will still be starting next season for the Rockets if we didn't get Wemby. If we get Wemby, Alp could be on the way out. Also, if we get Henderson, KPJ could also be on the way out, regardless how much Tilman likes KPJ. NBA is a business and I don't really want to put too much weight on the press conference.

Those 10 or so games is probably more than some Rockets fans watched this season.

Could be, we would never know what he actually think until next season. As a long time Rocket's fan, the overreacting days had been on the rear mirror. There is no denying fact that the draft result will decide who'll be here next season, not a mere press conference. The op was pretty childish twisting the message this way, and I was just telling people not to overreact only.
