If he's as good as people think he is, I think they'd draft him anyways and stick Murray on the bench.
I was watching a video with former Texans pro bowl guard Wade Smith talking to I think Landry Locker and when he was asked what he would think about WA at #2 he replied "very underwhelmed!". Said when he watched his tape he wanted to see a guy who beat his man regularly but was not the case at all. Said he made the plays that "were there for him" but not much else and you need much more than that for a #2 overall pick! On Tyree Wilson he said "I can see it a little more with him" but even so he would be a little underwhelming to Wade at #2 as well. (Incidentally TW is only #28 on the pff big board) Smith said the best defensive player he saw on tape BY FAR was Jalen Carter! He would take him with the #2 or trade down a few spots first. Can't seem to find the video link or I would post it. (sorry) I know Wade doesn't have access to the personal info on JC though like teams will. Trying to remember if we had him in on 1 if our "30 in house visits" There's NO generational defender in this draft, other than maybe Jalen Carter (with his baggage) so if Young is gone at #1 and we don't LOVE any of the other QB's I'd MUCH PREFER a trade down to accumulate more draft capital and take the best defender at #4-10 or wherever we end up! Edit Found the long version of the video. Wade KNOWS o-line and d-line /edge play!
If you re-read my post you’ll see that I never said it had anything to do with football. Again, “It was the Wonderlic and I’m sure too much stock was put into that as well.” Regardless I’m sure everything you’ve dug up on this football QB crystal ball quiz has been from this path to the draft now, not in any years past. So AGAIN, this is the next “big thing” that critics will point to as the grand litmus for all incoming QBs.
Just like happened last year with Thibodeaux, during his last season, and months before the draft, he was compared to Khalil Mack, a generational pass rusher who was going to the no.1 overall, pick, but they found tons of flaws and almost fell out of the top 5, and Travon Walker was picked the best pass rusher in the draft. Thibo was actually the 3rd DE to be selected and 5th defensive player.
Mahomes wasn't even close to Mahomes when he got drafted. He went 10th in the draft, he wasn't treated as some "can't miss" prospect and many were heavily skeptical because of he system the played in at Tech. It's easy to bring up Mahomes
Because media says he’s got “character” issues? Lol … id take him at no 2 since he’s best player there. Made a really dumb choice but hasn’t shown a history of that at all
How many times does he have to tell us how he feels about Young? What’s funny is he acts like his personal grade means anything to anyone but him.
I would! That's what people still do not get....Caleb Williams is a generational player. If you have a chance at getting him and you're drafting #1, the first thing I'm going to do is ask myself, is he better than the QB we currently have? If the Texans draft defense this yr and pass on a QB and win 6, 7 or 8 games this yr, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to trade up to get Caleb or Maye. And we still can't afford to trade ALL of our picks, we still have needs.
Possible work ethic issues, and I wouldn't want to sink that much money and faith into a guy that is going to literally drive away and leave his dying teammates in the dust. Demeco ain't about that, either. I bet he's not even on our board.
Albert Breer has the Texans taking Wilson at 2 and Levis at 12 in his latest mock. I'd prefer Anderson at 2, personally, but if this is the outcome, I'm not mad at it. I don't love Levis, but if you don't have to trade up to get him at 12, I do think getting him at 12 is decent value.
