To all of the fans that thought the season was over after the usual slow start, cheers. "It FeElLs dIfFeReNt ThIs yEaR."
Julks is impressing the hell out of me. He didn’t get flustered after that egregious second pitch strike call. That was the worst call I have seen all year. And that 2-0 count in the 6th that should have been 0-2 was almost a total game changer. I think the umps get it right most of the time and the bad calls get evened out in the end, but today’s game was atrocious. They better implement the balls/strikes challenge system next season.
Abreu was already warming with the game being tied so just let him roll. Ryan also pitched 3 of 4 days prior so two days off heading to TB is helpful.
At this rate. Kyle Tucker will be your CF momentarily and Corey Julks will be your RF. He is forcing the issue with Michael Brantley coming back in to the fold.
I think Julks is more likely than Tucker to play CF. But I'm not convinced that both Meyers and Chas get benched in favor of him. It's not like they are playing badly, and the Astros value CF defense greatly. Otherwise Tucker would have played much more CF with the trainwreck that was the position last year. It's a numbers game and the team can't have 6 guys who only play OF. ( Yordan, Mike, Chas, Jake, Tuck, and Julks). To stay on this team once Uncle Mike and Chas are healthy, the Front office will need to have confidence in Julks being able to play some infield. Jake and Chas stay on the roster because they have been good enough hitting and are exceptional fielders, especially in CF.
Bregman looks Like he is turning it around in last 50+ ABs. Getting on base all the time and making good contact. Peña is lost. Thought he would be turning a corner by now.
