Allen was said to be inaccurate and a one read QB with a strong arm Mahomes was said to be a playground QB that couldn't perform within the structure of an NFL offense.
A lot of the comps are starting to standardize around who these top players likely are either in terms of how they play or if they pan out: Young = Tua or Watson Stroud = Goff or Bradford Richardson = Newton or Kaepernick Levis = poor Stafford or Wentz Anderson = TJ Watt If Young isn’t available, are folks really advocating we should draft Bradford or Kaep or Wentz over TJ Watt? I wouldn’t at 2. Maybe at 12 we can talk potential like Richardson.
Agree. I also believe our oline is not far off being a force. We added Shaq Mason in the off season and I believe Kenyon Green could have a good sophomore season - especially if we upgrade the Center position next to him. If we can snag John Michael Schmitz, Steve Avila or Luke Wypler, I think our Oline can be really good. Obviously they may take a little time to gel, but the potential for a major turnaround is there.
Allen and Mahomes are 100% the 1 out of 100's for there scenarios. You have lost the argument if that is indeed your reasoning on spending top draft capital on a player. I am done with yall lol. No logic being shared.
Those comparisons are only guesses but I understand why people draw them. CJ Stroud is a winner and a leader and had the highest passer efficiency rate in college football last season. Pass on him at your own peril.
Mahomes was compared to Cutler and Stafford. Trubisky was also compared to Stafford. Funny how those worked out. My point is that comparisons are fun, but they mean jack sh*t. Obviously, if there's a quarterback you'd be willing to take in the top 5, you take them with the second pick, regardless of who some armchair dude compares them to. How did Mario Williams, Clowney, or even JJ Watt move the needle for the franchise?
[/QUOTE] JJ wasn't a top pick, but I would say he made them a Tier 2 team. I do sustain that healthy Schaub and co get through the Ravens and probably go on to win the whole thing. They were just so talented all over the place.
imagine this happens and the Texans don’t take Young at No. 2. I can definitely see them doing something like that.
I really like Schmitz and you would have to draft him with that 2nd round pick. I'm not sold on Green. He was drafted by the prior offensive coordinator and I don't see how he is a good fit for the zone blocking scheme. I would like to see a Guard drafted even though your stuck with Green for another year or two.
Haven’t seen Levis at all but he just seems like one of those guys that gets the excessive late hype because he has the physical tools but ultimately he’s probably a ‘looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane’ type. No thanks
Not only are we going to pass on Stroud, we're going to gift wrap him for the Colts and watch him beat the crap out of us year after year. Can anyone please tell me why Nick is still here? If it wasn't for Tom Brady, Bill Belichick would be a coordinator somewhere and Nick would be coaching at a Division II school.
Regarding that Northwestern game, if memory serves, the story of that game was extreme wind and weather completely taking the pass out of the game which in my opinion makes it a throw-away game in terms of draft analysis
I just want to see a front office stick it's neck out for a quarterback, and not seem so apathetic. It's happened once or twice in 20+ years. That's it.
Yeah it’s wild that someone can say they watched the game and conveniently leave out the 50+ mph winds. Even Josh Allen struggles in that type of weather. It just shows how far people will go to fit their narrative.
