The players and coach's job was to win the game though? That's literally their job. They did that. No one said to forfeit all of our picks but acting like having the #2 pick is this huge mistake we should all still be groaning about is a bit much. Lol no one even knew who the #1 guy would be at the time. Maybe you could make this argument if there was a generational prospect out there but there isn't...as such I don't see the big deal in playing the starters who had all managed to win 2 games before that 3rd one.
A couple of weeks ago on 610, Payne and Pendergast said the Texans had every intention of winning that last game because they were involved in the Brian Flores lawsuit that accused the dolphins of tanking. Supposedly, Texans losing would give credibility to those tanking allegations.
No way should they take Levis ahead of Anderson. Better off taking Anderson at 2 then trade up to steal Ant
This too, so any idea the Texans had of lying to Lovie to try and get him to play to lose would not have been a good idea because I imagine he would not have enjoyed being played like that and would have told someone.
I totally understand that. All I'm saying is that there were at least 4 teams on that last weekend that openly tried to lose. Benching starters, making up injuries, etc. But not us. If it truly didn't matter, then cool, but at least right now it seems to have mattered a lot.
Good. I am glad he is driving her crazy and no one outside the organization knows what they are going to do.
I could see 1-2 Levis Trade 1-12,3-64, 6-203 for 1-7 and picking one of Anderson, Wilson, Carter . Or just skip QB and draft Anderson/Bijan.
Dude they were playing a Colts team who had lost 9 of their last 10 games. Not to mention they were starting 3rd string QB with Jeff Saturday as their interim coach. Of course no draft pick is guaranteed but you are essentially arguing that there is no additional value in having the #1 vs #2 pick. Teams have been tanking for the #1 pick since the inception of drafts. It got so blatant that the NBA created rules to combat it, rules that you believe the NFL should adopt. With specifics to this years draft, Caserio apparently offered the #12 pick to move up one spot so regardless of what we think, so safe to say he thought one player was going to be better than anyone else.

Caserio was already known to be hands-on and advising what to do with the team when Culley was here (and with the Patriots). Maybe being hands-off was what Lovie requested when he signed up, but when the coach is already a dead man walking, he (and the owner) should have taken the reigns more. Kidd didn't like it when Cuban & Nico told him to blatantly sit his starters on the last games, but he still sucked it up.
The S2 test doesn't mean jack because this guy can't pull the trigger even if he sees something. There are so many major flaws here. If the Texans take him, then Nick deserves to lose his job. BRUTAL Tape. How anyone can watch this and say "franchise guy" is beyond me. If you really don't like Stroud... at least take AR at 2. The potential is endless. I just have my doubts if he gets there. Still a much better prospect than Levis.
